OpenTelemetry (OTel) is a toolset and standard for collecting telemetry data such as metrics, traces, and logs. This course covers the basics of OTel, its components, and how it can integrate with observability vendors. By the end of this course, you'll have the knowledge to begin using OTel in your applications.

By the end of this course, you'll be able to:

• Explain the benefits of using OpenTelemetry
• Describe the components of OTel, including SDKs, APIs, and the Collector
• Explain each part of an OTel pipeline: receivers, processors, exporters, and connectors
• Describe the relationship between OTel and Datadog, and find resources for connecting them
