The legal name on the certification profile must match the name on the government-issued ID used on exam day. Since the current name on the exam registration does not match the ID, the legal name needs to be updated through the Microsoft Learn profile and, because an exam is already scheduled, through Credentials Support.
Follow these steps:
- Update the legal name in the Learn profile:
- Sign in to the Microsoft Learn profile.
- Go to Settings.
- Update the Legal name fields so they match exactly what appears on the government ID (for example, set the last name to match the ID or use the appropriate format that aligns with the ID).
- Because an exam is already scheduled, use Certification/Credentials Support to correct the name on the existing booking:
- After opening Settings and attempting to update the legal name, a message and link to contact Certification Support may appear if an exam is booked.
- Use that link to submit a support request so the support team can update the exam registration details to match the ID.
If the in-product link is not visible, go directly to the Credentials Support help page and submit a support request for a legal name correction associated with the scheduled exam.
Do not go to the test center or start the online exam until the name on the exam registration matches the ID, otherwise the proctor may not allow the exam to proceed.
