Azure Service Fabric support for Windows Server 2025

Keith Weaver 0 Reputation points

Just received the below Azure Service Health alert.
However, Windows Server 2025 is not currently listed as a supported operating system for Azure Service Fabric. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/service-fabric/service-fabric-versions?tabs=windows#supported-windows-versions-and-support-end-date
Is Windows Server 2025 currently supported?

|| || COMMUNICATION:

You’re receiving this notification because you're associated with one or more Azure subscription(s) that run Service Fabric clusters on a Windows OS image.  For reference, you can find this notification in the Azure portal under Service Health/Health advisories using tracking ID: PR0Q-GH8.

Service Fabric will end support for all clusters running on Windows Server 2019 on 31 March 2027. Please upgrade to Windows Server 2025 by this date to remain supported.

Service Fabric is aligning its Windows OS image support model with mainstream OS support timelines, consistent with Linux support and other Azure platforms. As a result, Service Fabric will no longer support Windows Server OS images beyond their mainstream support end date.

This change helps you maintain a strong security posture, reduce operational complexity, and continue benefiting from new features and improvements on modern, supported platforms.

The current experience provided by Windows Server 2019 will no longer be supported by Service Fabric after 31 March 2027. Virtual Machine Scale Sets might continue running beyond this date, but Service Fabric support for clusters on Windows Server 2019 ends on 31 March 2027.

To remain in a supported state, upgrade to Windows Server 2025 by 31 March 2027

Recommended action

Customers running Service Fabric clusters on Windows Server 2019 are strongly encouraged to upgrade to Windows Server 2025. You have until 31 March 2027 to complete this upgrade and remain in a supported state.

How to upgrade

OS image upgrades are performed by scaling cluster node types and do not impact applications when executed using supported procedures:

While some documentation references upgrade from Windows Server 2019 to 2019, the same process applies when upgrading between any supported Windows Server OS image versions, including to Windows Server 2025.

    Hi Ankit,

    This question I am asking is not about Microsoft Fabric. I am asking about Azure Service Fabric.
