Windows App Mobile keyboard on

Hi. Love your app. I downloaded the most recent version. Since then I can not find the toggle button to bring up the Keyboard. Is there a function to do that? Here is that I’m looking at. Thanks for your help.

    Hi Murray, Mike,

Thank you for the update and it looks like you are not missing the option but experiencing a known limitation where the Windows App connection bar hides the virtual keyboard toggle when it detects a physical hardware keyboard or an active Bluetooth keyboard connected to your mobile device. If you have any external keyboard, mouse, or specific case accessories with integrated inputs attached to your phone or tablet, please try disconnecting them entirely to force the application to dynamically expose the soft keyboard icon on that connection bar menu.

Additionally, if there are no physical peripherals connected, the missing toggle is often tied to an active mouse pointer redirection mode, so switching your current session interaction mode from "Mouse Pointer" back to standard "Touch" within that same floating logo menu should bring the keyboard command icon back into view immediately. If the issue still persists after trying both adjustments, the application's layout state might be stuck, and performing a quick device restart or resetting the app data inside your mobile operating system settings will restore the proper adaptive UI layout.

If adjusting the input mode or peripheral connections helps bring back your on-screen keyboard toggle, please let me know the result.

    Tracy.

    Hello Murray, Mike,

In the recent updates to the Windows App Mobile, the interface was redesigned to maximize your remote desktop screen space, which is why the permanent keyboard toggle is no longer visible by default. To access the keyboard, you simply need to tap the floating Windows logo button currently sitting in the top left corner of your screenshot. Tapping that icon expands the connection bar, which houses the keyboard toggle, touch pointer options, and your session disconnect controls.

If this helps you get back to logging into your studio software smoothly, please consider marking it as Accept Answer so others with the same issue can find the solution. Feel free to leave a comment if you need further information.

I agree with what you are saying but I don’t see an option for the keyboard. Tapping the floating icon only brings up Home, the touch pointer and mouse option, plus disconnect sessions. Did I miss the keyboard option?

In the latest Windows app, the on‑screen/touch keyboard is no longer controlled by a toggle inside the app. Instead, rely on the keyboard features of the remote or local OS:

    1. If the remote session is a Windows 10/11 PC, tap inside any text field (like the Name or Password box). The Windows touch keyboard should open automatically when no physical keyboard is attached.
    2. If it does not appear, enable the touch keyboard on the remote Windows PC:
      • Select Start > Settings > Devices > Typing.
      • Under Touch keyboard, turn on Show the touch keyboard when not in tablet mode and there's no keyboard attached.
    3. Alternatively, use the Windows On‑Screen Keyboard (OSK) on the remote PC:
      • Go to Start > Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard.
      • Turn on Use the On-Screen Keyboard. A keyboard window will appear and stay on screen until closed.

These settings make a software keyboard available without needing a separate toggle in the Windows app.
