Enable Microsoft.Kusto in Switzerland West

Lin Avraham 20 Reputation points Microsoft Employee

Hi, I am unable to create a Kusto cluster in SWW0A. I remember for other regions that a feature flag needs to be enabled (Microsoft.Kusto/AllowSwitzerlandWest) or the resource provider for Kusto needs to be registered, but I am unable to do either and am receiving unauthorized errors.

Please assist urgently - we are going to public preview in a few days.

    Hi @Lin Avraham

The issue was due to missing permissions / authorization restrictions, which prevented enabling the required feature flag and registering the Microsoft.Kusto resource provider in the Switzerland West region.

In this case, the limitation was resolved through backend enablement/registration for the affected subscriptions, which unblocked the deployment.

After the backend changes, Kusto cluster creation in Switzerland West (SWW0A) was successful.

This is likely a subscription-level restriction for the Switzerland West (SWW0A) region rather than a normal RP registration issue.

If registering Microsoft.Kusto or enabling feature flags returns Unauthorized, the subscription probably is not allowlisted for Kusto deployments in switzerlandwest.

    Please verify:

    Microsoft.Kusto RP registration

    Required RBAC permissions (Owner/Contributor)

Whether the subscription has Switzerland West access enabled for ADX/Kusto

If not, Microsoft support/service team will need to enable the backend allowlist for the region.
