Unable to create Azure DevOps connection in a Logic App — "Unknown error" from the designer

GD 20 Reputation points Microsoft Employee

What's happening: In the designer's Create connection dialog (Authentication Type: Log in with Microsoft Entra ID), clicking Sign in fails immediately with a generic toast:

Failed to create OAuth connection: Unknown error

The dialog doesn't show any further detail. Repro is consistent across normal and InPrivate browser sessions, with the same Microsoft account that has access to the target Azure DevOps organization.

Impact: The Logic App cannot be wired up to Azure DevOps, blocking the workflow end-to-end. All logic apps are broken right now.

You can use the following professional response:

We are currently experiencing an issue when attempting to create an Azure DevOps connection in the Logic App Designer using "Log in with Microsoft Entra ID" authentication.

When selecting Sign in from the Create Connection dialog, the process fails immediately and displays the following error message:

"Failed to create OAuth connection: Unknown error"

The issue occurs consistently across multiple browser sessions, including both standard and InPrivate modes, and affects a Microsoft account that has the required permissions within the target Azure DevOps organization.

As a result, we are unable to establish the Azure DevOps connector, which prevents the Logic App workflow from being configured and executed. At this time, all Logic Apps that depend on Azure DevOps integration are effectively blocked, causing a critical impact on our workflow operations.

    We have already verified:

The Azure DevOps account has the necessary access permissions.

The issue persists across different browser sessions.

The error occurs immediately after clicking Sign in, before any meaningful diagnostic information is displayed.

We would appreciate assistance in identifying the root cause and any recommended troubleshooting steps or service-side checks that can help restore connectivity.
