Will gpt-chat-latest be GA soon?

Currently using gpt-5.3-chat in a workflow. It is going to be retired by the end of the month. Azure listed the recommended replacement is gpt-chat-latest, however it is still in "preview". Is this planned to be GA soon?

    Hello @Tyler Kreider

At this time, gpt-chat-latest is still listed as a Preview model, and I am not aware of any public announcement providing a specific General Availability (GA) date. [learn.microsoft.com]

Since gpt-5.3-chat is being retired, Microsoft currently recommends migrating to gpt-chat-latest as the replacement model. However, the available documentation indicates that gpt-chat-latest continues to follow the Preview lifecycle and standard notice periods, rather than being GA today. For production workloads, I recommend:

    • Testing your application with gpt-chat-latest before the retirement of gpt-5.3-chat
    • Monitoring the Azure AI Foundry model documentation and release announcements for any future GA updates
    • Planning for model upgrades according to the published retirement schedule

As of now, there is no published GA timeline for gpt-chat-latest that I could find in the available documentation.

Hope this helps! Do let me know if you have any further queries.

    Thankyou!

Azure documentation lists gpt-chat-latest as a Preview model and as the replacement for several retiring chat models, including gpt-5.3-chat.

However, there is no statement in the provided documentation that gpt-chat-latest is, or will be, Generally Available (GA) by a specific date. The model follows the standard Preview lifecycle and retirement/upgrade policies, but no GA timeline is published.

For now, the supported path when gpt-5.3-chat retires is to migrate to gpt-chat-latest as indicated in the model retirement schedule, understanding that it remains a Preview offering until Microsoft explicitly announces GA.
