Unable to access Azure for Students despite having valid student email
Hello,
I am a current student of the Computer Science and Engineering Department at *** University of Science and Technology, ***.
I am trying to access Azure for Students using my student email (pii-removed@student.***.edu), but it shows “You are not eligible for this offer.”
I believe this may be an error because I am an active student and need Azure for academic purposes.
I have also tried these accounts:
<PII removed>
Still facing the same issue.
Can anyone help me understand why this is happening and how to resolve it?
Thank you.

Hello shajjadul ferdous The message “You are not eligible for this offer.” when signing up for Azure for Students Starter most commonly comes down to eligibility/verification not passing, and/or the fact that the offer is limited to specific student types.
For Azure for Students Starter, the key prerequisite is that you must be a verified K-12 student (it’s for high school/secondary students). It’s available to verified students at no cost, and you verify using your school email (or Shibboleth if supported by your school). Also:
- The offer is limited to one subscription per eligible customer (nontransferable, can’t be combined with other offers).
- It also isn’t intended for MOOCs or other professional trainings from for-profit orgs.
If you’re a university (higher education) student, you typically won’t qualify for Azure for Students Starter—you may need Azure for Students instead (which is for eligible university students and uses the higher-education verification requirements).
Steps to resolve / try:
- Confirm which student offer you’re using
- If you are K-12 (high school/secondary) → Azure for Students Starter applies.
- If you are a university/degree program (2-year/4-year, full-time) → look at Azure for Students instead.
- Verify student status using the school email
- Make sure you’re using your organization’s email (or Shibboleth if your school supports it).
- Try the GitHub verification path (if school verification doesn’t work)
- If your school can’t verify you for the offer, you can use Azure for Students via GitHub.
- When doing this, the guidance is to use “Sign in with GitHub” using your GitHub user ID (not email address).
- Browser/device troubleshooting (sign-up verification can be sensitive)
- Clear cache/cookies, then retry in an InPrivate/Incognito window.
- Try a different browser or network if possible.
If you’re eligible but still blocked:
If you’re a current active student and still see the eligibility error, the best next step (per the provided docs) is to contact Azure for Education support: https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/institutions/contact
