How to fix authenticator issues between Azure and Authenticator
Azure wants 6-digits and Authenticator generates 8-digits.
Everything else I use authenticator for work fine, just not Azure.

The azure account in authenticator does not match the azure account. The authenticator account is newer and has not been registered as a valid account with azure. You need to do the password reset flow and re-authorize the account.

Dear @DENISE BREINING,
I hope youβre having a good day.
From your description, I understand that Azure is requesting a 6-digit verification code, while the Microsoft Authenticator entry you're using is generating an 8-digit code. Since your other accounts work correctly with Authenticator, this may indicate that the Azure account is either configured for a different authentication method or that the wrong Authenticator entry is being used.
To better understand the situation, could you please clarify:
- Is this an Azure portal sign-in for a work or school account?
- Are you being prompted for a verification code, or for an Authenticator app approval/number matching request?
- Do you have more than one account configured in Microsoft Authenticator?
- When you open the Authenticator entry for this Azure account, what type of account does it show (work/school account or something else)?
If possible, could you share a screenshot of the Azure sign-in page showing where the 6-digit code is requested? Also, does the 8-digit code come from the same work account you are trying to use to sign in?
Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.
Looking forward to hearing back from you with any updates or additional details.
Warm regards,
