Set up a Tanium Connector
Tanium Security Browser Connector for Microsoft Edge for Business extends the Tanium Autonomous IT Platform with real-time browser telemetry from Windows endpoints running Microsoft Edge for Business, providing visibility into high-risk activity, including password breaches, malware, unsafe site visits, and sensitive data transfers. Using Tanium, you can generate reports to analyze browser behavior across the environment, identify suspicious endpoints, and pivot directly to investigation and remediation without leaving Tanium. Before you begin
The Tanium Security Browser Connector for Microsoft Edge for Business has the following required dependencies:
- Tanium™ Asset
- Tanium™ Partner Integration
- Tanium™ Reporting
Note
The Tanium Security Browser Connector for Microsoft Edge for Business dashboards show information only for endpoints that run Tanium Client.
Enable and configure the Tanium Security Browser Connector for Microsoft Edge for Business integration
Note
Use the Integration Admin - Microsoft Edge for Business system role in Tanium to enable the Tanium Security Browser Connector for Microsoft Edge for Business integration.
In Tanium Console, from the Main menu, go to Shared Services > Integrations Gallery.
In the Integrations section, click Tanium Security Browser Connector for Microsoft Edge for Business.
Click Enable and then confirm your selection.
From the Main menu, go to Shared Services > Integrations Gallery and then click Tanium Security Browser Connector for Microsoft Edge for Business.
Go to the Configuration tab.
Click Tanium Instance URL Copy to copy the Tanium instance URL to the clipboard. Paste this value in a plain text editor.
Enter Trusted IP Addresses to associate with the API token.
Click Generate to generate an API token and copy the token value to the clipboard. Paste this value in a plain text editor. This API token is associated with the user account creating the token, contains Microsoft Edge for Business in the Notes field, and is valid for 31 days from generation.
Note
You cannot view the token value in Tanium Console. Paste the value in a plain text editor and save the file in a secure location if you want to record it for future reference.
Configure the Connector in the Microsoft Edge Management Service
- Go to Microsoft Admin Center.
Admins must set up a configuration policy to assign to any Connector configuration. This policy must be an Intune type policy, targeting Windows 10 or later endpoints only. Follow the directions in Create a Microsoft Edge for Business configuration policy.
Once you have at least one configuration policy created, visit the Connectors page in the Microsoft Edge Management Service to access the Connectors page in the Microsoft Edge Management Service.
In the Tanium pane, click Set up.
Select the configuration policy that you configured for the Tanium Security Browser Connector for Microsoft Edge for Business.
Paste the Tanium Instance URL in the URL required field.
Enter 443 in the Port field.
Paste the API token value in the API Key field.
Click Test Connection. If the connection cannot be established, check settings and try again.
Select the events to send to Tanium.
Note
Certain event types might have additional requirements before you can retrieve them.
- Click Save configuration.
