Hi!

I just started a community called 👁 Image
moar_skills
for financial tips and tricks, budgeting around the home, etc. People have already posted about pans and thermal cooking. :D

If you're at all interested we'd love to have you.

And there's a very good community called 👁 Image
hip_domestics
that you might enjoy, too.

12:08 pm - We All Have To Eat

We all need to eat, which means we have 2 choices. Cook or pay someone else to do it. Sure it might be easier to go to a restaurant or drive thru, but it's not as healthy for you. So if you're going to cook, you need to shop.

Grocery stores are not the most fun place to go. They can be down right overwhelming. And if you're trying to save some cash, you're going to be standing there trying to figure out just what is the better deal. Those little tags on the shelves are not the easiest things to decipher.

Or you can pre-game your trip by using store circulars found in the Sunday paper. You can spend hours pouring over the chaotic sheets, trying to figure out what you need or want. Then you go to the next local store's sheets, start over again. Finally you have to compare the multiple stores to make sure you're really getting the best deal. By the time you're done, it will be 8 pm and you will be so jacked up on coffee your hands are shaking too much to write out your shopping list.

Want an easier way? I bet you do. Here's something to save you time and money.

www.budget101.com/groceryguide.htm

What this website does is:

Put in your zip code.

Check off the stores in your area.

The website then pulls ALL the store's circular deals and breaks them down into categories so you can see what's on sale that week at what store.

You can print out your list or send it to your cell phone.

You can find online coupons and print them off too!

You don't have to buy the Sunday paper to get this information or waste time comparing everything. You don't have to surf multiple store's websites either.

So easy to compare sales that you'll want to sing.

Go forth and be frugal!

08:07 am - Book Organization

I love books. No, I really love books. But now I have to figure out how to organize them. I wonder if I'm the only intelligent bibliophile that can never, ever find anything in the public library? I just don't get their system.

I've recently put all of my own books on shelves. They are fresh out of boxes in a hap hazard manner. So I need a system that works for me.

I think I'm going to try to alphabetize by title, because I rarely remember the author's name. I also think I will break them down into sections that make sense to me.

Reference (dictionaries, home improvement, Public Relations for Dummies)
Fiction
Religion/Speculation (standard religious texts as well as books leaning more towards New Age because New Age books tend to reference religious texts)
Biography
Cooking
History
Fairy Tales (simply because I have so many because I actively collect them)

Yeah, this system might look strange to some people, but I'm pretty sure it will help me out.

Have you got a bookshelf? How are they arranged? What worked for you?

03:36 pm - Welcome!

Welcome to Life and Home. My name and Lanie and I'll be your Mod. Please notice that there are exits stage left in case of emergency.

Today I'm working on my end of week cleaning. I'm eating the last of the left overs from the fridge as it's trash night. Waste not want not! Finishing up the laundry, giving love to the fur babies and planning grand dreams of all the productive things I will accomplish next week.

It's for real fall here now, so the top of my list is changing over to the winter wardrobe. Time to go through the closet and donate what was not worn in the last season, mend the clothes that were loved too much, and pack away the things that will give me goosebumps in the coming weeks if I continue to place them on my body in the bleary pre-coffee morning haze.

How are you dear friend? Grab a cup of tea and dish out the gab! What's going on?
