Aren't you fed-up with garbage, full-of-shit sites where nobody actually communicates, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter? Do you wish your old friends who've migrated to those sites would return to LiveJournal? The πŸ‘ Image
the_lj_revival
community has been set up with that aim in mind, and you are invited to join it. If you are already on LiveJournal and still have a Facebook profile, and would like to see more people returning to LJ or setting up accounts here, we invite you to post a link to this community on your Facebook Timeline. If you would like to find out who is still using LiveJournal and make contact with those who are already here, you are invited to copy and paste the 'about me' questions on the profile page and post them with your answers to the community.

Nice to meet you all, I'm glad to join/watch this community!

Lately I've been trying to make icons of the sort of images that I really enjoy and don't too often find around LiveJournal. Seeing as other people here might enjoy displaying their interest in robots and/or Tezuka (who wrote at great length on the subject), I thought I'd humbly offer my efforts here.

A must for freaks like me. (X-posted) [05 Mar 2006|06:37pm]

I doubt, highly, this will have a tremendous amount of appeal for most of you, but I'm going to throw it out anyway, just in case.

Part of my delight in robot fetish is the notion of being able to dismantle, and maintain consciousness, in a 'bot.  Don't ask me to explain, I very likely wouldn't have any logically sound answers.  I just, for whatever reasons, love it.

Well, recently I was turned on to the comic series 'Fables', by Vertigo comics.  For those unaware, as I was, of the theme, it takes the world of the fable characters (Big Bad Wolf, 3 Little Pigs, 3 Blind Mice, the Old Woman who Lived in a Shoe, etc.) and expresses the notion that they've been ejected, by force, from their Homelands, and found refuge in NY City.  Well, book 4, "March of the Wooden Soldiers", has a whole set of wooden carved men that seem to be very similar to Pinocchio prior to the fairy granting his 'wish'.  However, they arrive in the city in crates, in pieces, and must be assembled.  Their outlook is also rather botic/cyber, and is quite entertaining, really.

For those that love a good comic read, I recommend the first four books of the series at least.  I can't comment on the rest yet, as I've not yet read them.

I guess I ought to mention a little nugget about this week's Vanity Fair.

For those out there that are like me and enjoy the visual of a human done up in almost complete metal armor, or seemingly 'mechanized' nearly or completely, there are some very ... interesting shots in this issue.  It's the Star Wars collector issue, and they feature C3P0.  And the suit is worn by the actor (the original from the first trilogy), with the head in one arm, and the rest of him in the suit.  It's quite ... interesting, at least to me.  His quote at the bottom of the page is equally interesting, for those of us that like dehumanization as well.  :)

I had no idea, but they're remaking the Stepford Wives. And it looks like it's going to be a truly heavenly fusion of droid, CGI and such. Very, very intriguing thoughts. And they'll be presented in living color on 6/11. I think I"ll have to work to keep that weekend as open as possible.

I-O: industrial fiction [22 Apr 2004|12:23pm]
πŸ‘ Image

fetishpunk
Hi everyone.

Hope you all don't mind me posting here but I was wanting to spread the word about my short story collection I-O, published by Prime Books.

πŸ‘ Image
The collection contains eight stories of industrial fiction, a style I formed after I became sick of horror and wanted to write something that integrated my own various interests - including industrial/cyber music, punk, underground culture, body modification, metal and other fetishes. A mutated scrap yard worker does all he can to protect a thingy of beauty he finds in amongst all the trash; A lone terrorist joins forces with a suicidal man who is incapable of dying; A group of women trawl through the cyberscape looking for industrial mock-gods in clubs and underground art joints; An obsessive lover keeps his muse trapped in an iron lung; And more...

If you are interested, head on over to my website, coldandalone.com to find out more or contact me through the site directly. You can even download a free short story collection to give you a taster for what lies within I-O or browse online excerpts of my writing. Please pass on the word of this collection to anyone you know might be interested - there isn't a lot of room for this sort of thing in the mainstream press so we have to do everything we can to make sure there is an alternative...

simonlogan - putting the punk back into cyberpunk

[Praise for I-O]

"A visionary in the genre's midst..." Paul DiFillipo, Asimov's

"What Logan seems to be doing here with I-O is attempting to create a genre all of his own, just like William Gibson with Cyberpunk - and no doubt his 'Industrial' style will be imitated just as much in years to come. ..." Paul Kane, Terrortales.org

"Logan's prose generated images of oil-stained steel walls, of chains grating against metal, of smog-filled skies, of bodies scarred and modified, and ornamented - whether or not such things were being described..." Claude LaLumiere, Locus Online

"Logan is a truly innovative writer, a rarity in these days of writers churning out linked series that endlessly repeat themselves..." Gene O'Neill, author of The Burden Of Indigo

This is gorgeous word art, and as such, the best stuff to come along since China Mieville’s vividly imagined PERDIDO STREET STATION and Michael Cisco’s darkly surreal THE DIVINITY STUDENT..." Jeffrey Thomas, author of Punktown

well i almost forgot about this community.
but not anymore. :)

just thought i would post some lyrics.

innitiate cyborg error system.
cant break out.
you feel the void.
the only way out,
upload into our world.
raised to fight.
stand for the cyborg right.
we will not give up.
no turning back.
tear out the spine,
metal-ic shine.
wires, in time.
the whole world is mine!
folow us in the machine.
repent from reality.
join our hard-drive.
destroy the mainstream
androidic warfare at its extreme.
they will not survive.

sound clips will come as soon as possible.
