I doubt, highly, this will have a tremendous amount of appeal for most of you, but I'm going to throw it out anyway, just in case.
Part of my delight in robot fetish is the notion of being able to dismantle, and maintain consciousness, in a 'bot. Don't ask me to explain, I very likely wouldn't have any logically sound answers. I just, for whatever reasons, love it.
Well, recently I was turned on to the comic series 'Fables', by Vertigo comics. For those unaware, as I was, of the theme, it takes the world of the fable characters (Big Bad Wolf, 3 Little Pigs, 3 Blind Mice, the Old Woman who Lived in a Shoe, etc.) and expresses the notion that they've been ejected, by force, from their Homelands, and found refuge in NY City. Well, book 4, "March of the Wooden Soldiers", has a whole set of wooden carved men that seem to be very similar to Pinocchio prior to the fairy granting his 'wish'. However, they arrive in the city in crates, in pieces, and must be assembled. Their outlook is also rather botic/cyber, and is quite entertaining, really.
For those that love a good comic read, I recommend the first four books of the series at least. I can't comment on the rest yet, as I've not yet read them.
