Drones Strike Area of Russian Explosives Plant in Morozov Settlement

Overnight, drones struck the industrial zone of the Morozov settlement in Russia’s Leningrad region, where an explosives manufacturing plant is located.

Regional governor Alexander Drozdenko said the industrial area was targeted.

According to the outlet Astra, the site includes the state-owned Morozov Plant, part of Russia’s defense industry that specializes in producing explosives.

Authorities claimed that air defenses shot down seven drones.

“Preliminary reports indicate debris fell in the Vsevolozhsky district. In the industrial zone of the Morozov settlement, the roof of an unused building was damaged,” the governor said.

According to Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, the Morozov Plant, in addition to producing explosives, develops solid fuel for the engines of Topol-M ballistic missile systems.

The enterprise is part of the Russian state corporation Rostec.

As part of cooperation in the production of Russian 9M723 Iskander-M ballistic missiles, it manufactures and supplies solid-propellant charges for 9X820 rocket engines.

The enterprise is under sanctions imposed by the United States, the European Union, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland, and Japan.

On the morning of April 2, Ukrainian drones struck the AVT-5 primary oil refining unit at the Bashneft–Novoil refinery in the city of Ufa.

Local residents recorded video and photos of a large-scale fire that broke out at the site after a series of explosions.

The refinery’s capacity is about 7–7.4 million tons of oil per year. The facility produces gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation fuel, lubricants, and other petroleum products.
