| Description |
The asteroid is an icosahedron (20 sided die) which is fed to a make-surface-from-arbitrary-triangle-mesh code that subdivides, colorizes and offsets the polygons based off various parameters I will tweak per body type. Here's an example of an earth-like planet: http://0x10c.com/screenshots/007_2.png The fun part of this is that I can make things like orbitals/halo worlds by applying it to the inside of a massive ring! Woo! The subdivision level depends on viewing angle and distance from the viewer. |
