Illustration of an endless circling moat that changes elevation, using only water flow mechanics (no pistons, bubble column elevators, etc.). Works reliably in Bedrock Edition. The technique can be used to float a boat over any terrain up to 1/2 slope (two horizontal blocks of movement per one vertical block increase in elevation). The elevation change shown here is one block up per three blocks horizontal.
For the uphill section shown, there are four water source blocks, each attached to the side of a chiseled stone brick. Flow is managed by buttons on the sidewalls and temporary water-guidance blocks that must be removed once the water is placed. Each subsequent step is a mirror image of the prior step.
The villager riding the boat is never completely submerged. When the boat is in the process of moving up a step, the top half of the villager's head remains above the water.
