Hi there! I’m Ether, and this is my userpage!

I’m a protogen and autistic* computer nerd on the Internet. I like all sorts of things on which I will elaborate below.

I’d prefer just to be called Ether; I've been adding the “-x9” to the end of my username on different sites because just “Ether” is usually taken. I also officially use they/them pronouns, but I really don’t care all that much.

Some things you should know about me include the following.

I like programming (even if I’m not very good at it) and working with and learning about computers—so much so, in fact, that I hope to major in computer science in college. It’s why I chose to make my fursona a protogen; more on that later. I built my first PC on May 2, 2026, and it has a 7800X3D, 32GB of RAM, and an RTX 5070. When it comes to coding, I’m honestly pretty terrible right now; I can write some basic stuff in Python, as well as a little HTML and maybe some CSS. I’ll be taking some AP computer classes in the next few years, so hopefully I can get better and maybe make some actual indie games.

I really don’t know why, but I just like talking animals. There’s probably some deep-rooted psychological reason involving my dissatisfaction with the human form and mankind as a whole (I mean, have you seen the news recently?) or maybe it’s just a dumb hobby. Who knows? As I said before, my fursona is a protogen also named Ether. I first created him in May 2025,^[1] and personality-wise, he’s essentially identical to me, but he was born in 1982 in some alternative universe that’s similar to ours but also a little different. I’m currently working out the details.

From ages 4–11 I did piano lessons and I got really good at it, but these days I’m more into “real” music—stuff you hear on the radio, I mean. Most of the stuff I like seems to have “alternative” in the name somewhere, but I do like a little bit of everything. I have a table of some of my favorite songs that I might add to this article at some point.

Tying in to how I said I like computers, one of the things I like to do on computers is play video games. My two all-time favorites are Minecraft and Kerbal Space Program. I can never seem to pick just one.

I first discovered the former in late 2017 on Pocket Edition, but by 2021 I had gotten Java Edition and started to play that as my main version. I mostly like to do random stuff in Creative Mode, although occasionally I’ll play Survival Mode. I like to call myself a “Minecraft historian” as I’ve spent an unnecessary amount of time looking at the wiki and changelogs for updates, specifically Java Edition version history.

As for KSP, I started playing in July 2020, although I’d been playing the mobile game Spaceflight Simulator since the week it came out in November 2017.^[2] As a kid, one of the things I was obsessed with was space shuttles, and I’d seen people like Matt Lowne and ShadowZone make shuttles in KSP,^[3][4] so you can fill in the blanks. After a while of playing the game, though, I started to get interested in doing other stuff in the game, not just making space shuttles. I don’t play it as much today as I used to, as its last major update was in June 2021^[5] and the community is kind of dead, but it’s still an amazing game and probably my all-time favorite.

Other games I like include:

• Ages of Conflict (which isn’t really a “game” that you play but whatever)
• The Jurassic World: Evolution series
• The Sims 4
• The NCAA Football series (specifically NCAA 14 & 06)
• Backyard Baseball ‘97

and a handful of others.

I say “probably” because I’ve never been officially diagnosed, but I’m pretty sure I have ADHD and possibly autism. I relate to a lot of things and experiences that people have shared about ADHD, like lack of focus and “executive dysfunction,” which is basically an inability to do things. Autism would also explain a lot of the stuff I did in elementary school, although if I do have it it doesn’t affect me as much as it once did. I think I might have a lower-level form such as Asperger’s.

Specifically, I am aromantic, asexual and agender.

Aromantic asexual (or “aroace”^[b] for short) means that I experience little to no romantic or sexual attraction. I’ve never had a crush on anyone, and I’ve never felt attracted to someone in that way. I do feel some forms of what’s called “tertiary attraction,” such as platonic and aesthetic attraction. I first made this discovery in June 2025 and I have somehow not changed my mind about it yet.^[1][6]

Agender means that I don’t have a gender. I’m still working this out myself, but this is how I experience it: I feel removed from the concept of gender, no label really fits me, and I don’t want to be perceived as a man or a woman or anything in between. I just feel like me. As of June 2026 I’m still trying to figure this stuff out. Also, since my gender idendity differs from my AGAB, I’m technically transgender, although I don’t really identify as such for several reasons.
