The File:Cobblestone.png has a resolution of 300 by 300 pixels and is about 4 to 5KB in size depending on revision and version. The very same image in SVG format as seen here: File:Cobblestone.svg is only 955 bytes with unlimited resolution (because it's a vector).

The problem is that while the file looks great when viewed alone the wiki forces interpolation on when rescaling it resulting in a very blurry image.
