|---|---|
| Optional block, never visible to anyone. It's recommended to fill/leave this block with something solid for better graphics performance. | |
| Decorative block. These blocks are visible to the user or to maintenance personnel. | |
| Any block that, when broken, also breaks some Redstone appliance attached to it. These won't be visible to the user but only to maintenance personnel. | |
| A mandatory block that transfers Redstone power. | |
| Mandatory block to prevent the player from being pushed off the ledge. For above-ground, any full-sized block will do and Glass may give a nice view of the surroundings. Underground, it can be kept Stone and doesn't need to be dug out. | |
| Keep an eye on repeater settings. 1, 2 and 4 tick delays are used throughout. |
These four layers make up the bottom floor. The leftmost is at the very bottom. The top two layers of these form the floor level at which the player enters the elevator, so it's recommended to start building two layers down. The bottom Piston is triggered by a glitch, but if it would ever stop working, there is enough room on the bottom layers to reroute some Redstone dust.
