I'm a member of a university research group working on multi-user CAD systems. We figure Minecraft is the most succesful multi-user 3d design package in history and we ought to be able to learn a lot from how its users collaborate, so we're working on an academic paper about Minecraft. We're doing this through a survey. We're also interested in talking to a few people who know a lot about collaboration in Minecraft. So, would you like to take the survey? (Won't let me post a link yet, but we can figure something out.) Redistribute it to other people who might be interested? Talk about any of this?
Also, it looks like there is some other academic research on Minecraft out there (e.g. Google "mining data from minecraft Alex Leavitt"). Would it be appropriate to create a wiki page about minecraft in academic research? I obviously have a self-promoting reason to do it, but it might be of general interest as well. Quatroking,
I've looked though the Rules, but I haven't seen one about signatures or attribution on article pages. I think a rule regarding the use of signatures/attribution should be addressed in the rules. My suggestion is that signatures or any form of attribution are not allowed on articles and article sub-pages. Signatures are only allowed on Talk pages. I think this is a fundamental guideline that should be listed since new users might sign article pages or attribute edits in the Tutorials to themselves or their friends. Examples: [1], [2]
And to prevent further misunderstandings, the exceptions for the Known bugs sub-pages should be stated as a bullet under the signature rule to make it more visible. (I almost flamed another user because of a misunderstanding (and my failure to read the page guidelines thoroughly due to the long paragraph format on that page, or just my rushing through the edits and skimming). Hope you understand - Asterick6 03:08, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I have two other friends that like Minecraft. I'll make pages soon. By the way, I saw you wrote on your User Page the sentence 'I am the Boss' in different languages. Can you write in Romanian? The translate is "Eu sunt Εefu' pe-aici!" -- DinnerBlazter1 21:09, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

I mostly edit Indev pages. I have no idea why did you revert the page from my edits. I will now move it back, with slight changes, not ruining the page... Ldtvproductions 11:21, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Great job with the wiki! It's really good :) The only flaw I see in it is the templates for defining the articles (templates like needs citation, needs to expand, etc.) They are really simple and I think they have to be designed according to the wiki's theme, Minecraft. I think I could help the wiki in that... What do you think?
Anyway, all the community has done a really good work in maintaining this wiki :) Keep it up!

Hiya! just messaging all other admins about my project, the Minecraft Wiki:Sandbox.
This sandbox initiative is going to try to gauge what the community wants page-wise, and where they want the wiki to go.
the plan is to use that, and see if the wiki can go that way, if our rules need improving, or if it is not viable to go in certain directions with the wiki.
So, there will be many pages that break our current rules, that will be located at "Minecraft Wiki:Sandbox/PAGENAMES".
I'm just messaging to request, unless it is blatant spam, please don't delete these pages.
There is a system to delete these pages if they are too low quality, or not active enough, and a system to tell users what has been deleted, and why. as well as informing them if a page will never be reconsidered. This section of the wiki is to see if we can push the rules, and if we should we push the rules.
I welcome other admins to help take part in this project, to see how the wiki can viably adapt to the community.
Have a good day! :) --Kizzycocoa 22:26, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Hi, I was reading recent changes and I noticed your deletions of Forge design f5 and friends. While these pages do seem inappropriately named, I think it was inappropriate to delete them without discussion given that they were used by another page. I feel that such deletions can be extremely discouraging to new contributors, as they are then unable to recover their work, which might have been appropriate placed elsewhere. I request that in the future you consider, when such content is not an orphaned page with no explanation or low-quality content, requesting that the page be moved appropriately rather than deleting it with no warning.
I have no stake in or considered opinion of the project of which that page was a part, other than that it seems not inappropriate for the wiki provided it is moved to a tutorial section; I mention it only as an example.

Quatroking, why didn't you let me know that the page was violating the rules before deleting the page like that? I would have removed the "personal attack" content and just made it into a page for watching other users's replies. My intention was to use the page to keep track of talk page replies on other talk pages, and to keep track of vandal edits. I admit the other content took it too far and I shouldn't have done what I did, but I would have deleted all of it if you'd just let me know beforehand. I'm sorry for lashing out like that on other people, and it's my problem for doing that, but next time can you please let me know on my talk page why I got blocked? And I'll be going on a trip for a few weeks anyways, so thanks for blocking me to keep me from continuing to edit since I'm addicted and getting a bit unstable from spending too much time doing this. 91.121.113.108 01:39, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
Is it possible to lock this page for editing, its constantly being updated with false dates despite me placing in "July 2012", people continue to add specific days for "release"
Because APIs require a lot of bandwidth and can easily be abused (not caching the results properly, using it to load data every refresh of a page), ALL apis lock down to a single IP address and monitor number of hits. (see: Facebook API, Google API, Netflix API).
The use of registration and ip address prevents abuse. If you don't like it, don't use it. I'm putting it back, I changed the wording so it doesn't look official. --Mineverse 16:15, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
I'm wondering why you switched to rl/rt/lt/lr for the bumper and trigger buttons. They don't seem to make any sense, as they don't match the name or label on those buttons; lb/rb/lt/rt would be more logical. -- Orthotope 10:43, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Hi, I was looking through the talk page for the Known Bugs page, and saw the discussion and proposals at Talk:Known bugs#New name discussion. Will you be moving the pages to Issues and renaming the snapshot release articles to "Snapshot x"? Also, I think the proposal I came across at Minecraft Wiki talk:Community portal#Known bugs and subpages rename is a good one. Will you be moving the pages and setting the main "Issues" article for the current official release at Issues instead of using a root page like the one we have now? I think this proposal might be more helpful than the system we have right now at Known Bugs. --M0rphzone 23:44, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

The modifications page is GONE. 69.47.120.32 01:11, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
That page seriously needs protection, protection which only allows admins to edit. The release date of updates is probably the most controversial and debated "edit" that people want to put onto this wiki. As you can see by the history, either idiots, trolls, or vandals constantly put nonsense or their unconfirmed guesses in stating them as fact. This is not okay.
The page SHOULD look like this - accurate information with no guessing bullshit. Sources are provided.
Please fully protect the page to admins only. The community is generally too immature to handle it. These are the dangers of allowing anyone to edit (though registration is currently required).
Thanks. Diriz 20:54, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi Quatroking,
I resently started to translate the snapshot page from english to dutch. In the beginning when I used the "collapse/expand" command it showed up as collapsed(class="collapsible collapsed collapse-button-none"), wich was good to hide the non translated part of the topic. For some reason the formula has changed and doesn't work this way anymore, it always "shows" now(nothing shows when I put "collapsed" in the line now). On the dutch site it also has changed from collapse/expand to hide/show. I've messaged CrazyBliep about this problem, and he knows this has changed, but he doesn't have time to look into this. Can you or any of the other admins have a look into this??

Hi,
My names James, im from Jay Apps. I've recently started a new video series, called PlanetCraft. Basically, its a documentary series looking at the mobs in minecraft, scripted on the facts from the Minecraft Wiki. I see for some of your Mobs pages you have some videos giving information on them, but not all pages do. Therefore, I would like to fill this gap and thats why Im contacting you. The series has had great feed back and is growing very fast. I cant add a link because of the of the abuse rule: Adding external links by new users, but you can find the series by searching: jayappsserver planetcraft.
Thanks,

βKanegasi βΊC 17:47, 21 April 2013 (UTC)Hello, I'm Jeffw. I'm an experienced wiki user of five years, and I've began to edit the Minecraft Wiki. Recently, I've discovered that no bots are active on the wiki! This is most unfortunate, since I needed to have some work done. I've used AWB many times on the English Wikipedia and it would be great if you could approve of my plan to make a bot account, User:Jeffbot, and perform automated tasks for everyone in the community. Thanks. --Jeffw (talk) (contribs) 21:33, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
Hi Quatroking, the German MC Wiki is cleaning its Admin board and like to remove you from the Admin list. Your last activity in our Wiki was 2012 but as a founder you are always mentioned in our history section. Greetings Sumpfhuette (talk) 12:47, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
Hello! I wanted to let you know that there was a discussion, which can be found here, proposing to demote admins who have been inactive for over a year. The community fully supported this so the proposal passed. Because your last edit was in January 2017, these conditions are applicable to you. You will have about a week to respond to this before I request a bureaucrat to remove your admin rights, and I'll also send you an email as you may not check the wiki anymore. If you are demoted, you'll be able to request that your rights be added back anytime if you ever need them. Also, please know that this is not any kind of punishment and will not be held against you in the future or be treated as a black mark. Please let me know if you have any questions or objections. Cheers and thank you for your service here.-- Madminecrafter12π Image
