Kenichi Yamada has spent most of his adult life chasing the next punishing challenge in online gaming, only to find the modern landscape dominated by forgiving mechanics. As if fate were listening to his desire, Kenichi receives a sudden, mysterious invitation to an untitled game promising an inconceivable level of difficulty. Delighted, he selects its most ruthless setting without hesitationโHell Mode.
However, instead of diving into another virtual game, Kenichi is reborn in another world as a peasant named Allen, forced to grapple with a cruelly complex system where even the basics of progression demand relentless effort. Consequently, Allen must build his strength from the ground up and learn to master the summoner class. With his resilience being tested at every turn, Allen embarks on an uncharted journey that might just prove to burn hotter than actual hell.

Another season, another isekai. I've already tried pretty much every isekai available considered above average and next to none of them are finished. Despite promising myself that I wouldn't start any new ones, boredom won out and I decided to see if any of the less attractive looking ones at least had a better story. For a weekend binge session, It's not bad.
Getting the tropes out of the way, we have a former PC gamer enthusiast who gets conned into play testing a new hardcore RPG and unwittingly reincarnated into another world as a rare summoner class. The main character's second life had many tender
...
moments that did a great job of showing his emotional maturity and newfound value on family. Eventually he stops treating his new life like a game and starts aiming for the top, not as a play tester, but as a fighter genuinely seeking power enough to protect the ones he loves. Make no mistake, the artwork is butt ugly. I've seen Studio Deen anime that looks better than this. Fight scenes are no better, but I was more impressed with how the summoner abilities were utilized. The story doesn't feel original either. The best praise I can give it would be bargain bin Mushoku Tensei. That may raise some eyebrows, but I do see some similar story beats. The kid isn't an absolute perv, nor are there any ecchi scenes to speak of. Best of all, the summoner ability system actually sounds cool AND is presented in a way that makes sense to the viewer. Simple, but effective and not overwhelmingly powerful. Good enough that if this were an actual JRPG, I'd love to play it. By the end, our hero has a new goal to focus on and season 2 has been announced for July. I'll probably read ahead since this went from a 6 to a 7 by the last episode. But you REALLY need to be willing to look past the awful artwork and 3D monsters. It still falls into garbage tier isekai, but darn it it's at the top of the heap. This one's for the Isekai fans that need an order of fries before the heavy hitters return for their 4th season. And who doesn't love fries!?

Besides the horrendous cg and bad animation, for an isekai this is enjoyable.
If you want to watch something to just pass the time this is solid slop.
honestly, the biggest drawback i had was the bad animation and the cgi that was used.
You don't see a lot of "smart/not dense" mc's in this type of genre so it's a nice change. Characters in this story are believable and story is okay, it's nothing deep but it doesn't try to be.
this is the biggest 4-5 if you cannot get past the bad cg/animation. I gave this a 6 because i finished it and the powerfantasy is fun

to watch.

Let's start with the title -
Hardcore Gamer - The MC is not even an average level gamer.
He has no wits or high level intellect.
Hell Mode - This dimwit decided he was too good a player to play game on Easy or Hard Mode.
He chose Hell Mode.
First 4 episodes are good. Next 4 average. Last 4 bad.
Story - The story is full of plot holes and conveniences. The isekai part is just to keep repeating in his head that he is a gamer.
He neither uses science/logic/technology or any of these things from his world.
...
The plot keeps dragging simple fights into long fights by making stupid decisions.
The interesting and fun characters are forgotten or removed for plot.
Just read the source instead. They have messed it up in anime.
Direction - The direction is bad. They keep ending abruptly and have no clue how to pace a series.
Animation - Decent animation. Some early episodes scenes are good. Overall watchable animation.
The fight scenes are enjoyable.
Character Development - Apart from the Isekaid MC, others become wiser or more intelligent.
The MC has little emotional growth in first few episodes. But then it is forgotten for plot.
This show is almost a generic AI slop that had potential but not knowing how to direct a plot according to 18 min episodes is the downfall of the show.
