How far will one go to reach salvation? Ask Gabimaru, the man who was once sentenced to be excuted on death row. He has a lot to prove this season with his convictions. And to be honest, Gabimaru's character growth has a lot of potential to be told. This season explores that potential with the rest of his expedition team.
Watching Hell's Paradise Season 2 casts the similar feeling as the previous season. The dark fantasy reminds us the brutality of some characters such as Chobei and his barbaric transformation. Again, we follow Gabimaru and his story. His past has made him the person he
...
became today and he still challenges himself beyond the limit. Strangely enough, he begins this season with a case of amnesia. It doesn't take long for him to realize who he is again. It's his own identity that shapes the path of his character.
Gabimaru's path has never been an easy one. But we also shouldn't forget his companions such as Mei and Sagiri. They have their own character motivations and origins. In fact, Mei herself reveals much more about her past that were previously unknown to the viewers. It not only gives her way of showing who she is but also the connection she has with the setting. Mei also provides important information that proves to be invaluable to Gabimaru, Sagiri, and the expeditioners. She continues to provide support when the group needs the most as they face their adversaries. And they are not pushovers. Characters such as Ran and Gui Fa proves to be more than just nuisances. This season continues to push the boundaries on what these entities can do. The Tensen, with their goal to create the elixir of life remains more dedicated than ever. Then, there's Ren, a mysterious character with his own ambitions.
Nonetheless, you should expect to see the similar, fast paced action as the previous season. It polishes the dark fantasy look along with its chaotic yet colorful art style. The characters are painted with unique traits, all fitting for the show's asethetics. The Tensen themselves are made to look godly, displaying their unique features and presence as otherworldly beings, above human limits. For a show so fitting for dark fantasy, it continues to amaze through its chereography. Character emotions are also highlighted and never lost as the plot moves.
Hell's Paradise is a dark fantasy franchise that shows such a world in a hellish landscape. Whether it's the Tensens, bloodshed, or countless deaths, this season exmplifies the characteristics of a dark fantasy. Waiting for nearly 3 years turned out to be a blessing in disguise as this anime's quality continues to live up to standards. May we see more of Hell's Paradise again someday

My take on Season 2 is quite different from what Iβve seen from others. I watched it weekly and followed discussions along the way, and overall the reception seemed very positive, with many viewers being impressed.
However, for me, Season 1 felt much more solid. It had everything - mystery, tension, meaningful character development, and strong action centered around the main character, Gabimaru. It felt balanced in every aspect.
In contrast, Season 2 spends around five episodes in one location, mostly focused on preparation for upcoming battles. This kind of buildup is not inherently bad, but here it feels a bit stretched, which makes the pacing
...
uneven. Instead of steady progression, the story frequently pauses to shift between different characters and similar fights against the Tensen, which started to feel repetitive and a bit boring.
Another issue for me was the reduced focus on Gabimaru. His moments are still strong, but his main fight is split across multiple episodes, with other events happening in between, which reduces its overall impact. At the same time, many of the newly introduced characters - mostly set up for future fights - didnβt really land for me. They were harder to connect with, and some of their traits felt a bit forced.
Overall, Season 2 feels less like a complete story and more like a bridge to the next season. It definitely has its moments, but compared to the energy and balance of Season 1, it doesnβt reach the same level.
That said, I am still looking forward to Season 3. Season 2 at least gives a clearer idea of what to expect next, especially compared to how Season 1 transitioned into this one.

I hardly write reviews on anime but this is the exception. I really liked season 1 and I had to watch a recap video to remember what happened because it came out so long ago, perhaps that could be one of the reasons I didn't like this season. However, I really wanted to comment on the animation this season. This is definitely not mappas best work, they put their heart and soul into JUJUTSU kaisen and this show feels like the worst of the team got the job. I honestly got so bored that by the end of the third episode I decided to just

drop it entirely.
