Always ready for a fight! Destruction for destruction's sake! The online streamer Aoringo is a troll, making the worst of the worst of boundary-pushing flamebait content and raking in the revenue from the hate-watchers. You may think he's nothing more than a bottom feeder and a drain on society, but in reality, he's high school dropout Souji Enishiro, a caring older brother with a sweet tooth who loves nothing more than his little sister. His viral videos? Just a way to pay his sister's medical bills. And even if all of humanity hates him, he doesn't care, so long as his little sister gets better. But then, something very strange begins to happen...β¨ Don't miss the debut of this modern-day occult exorcism battle manga!

how much of the good features of jjk can you cut away before you make a show unwatchable? a lot apparently. this show draws from jjk heavily, from the relatively constrained set of abilities characters can have, to the intentionally shitty personalities of most cast members, and to the overall tone of the creatures they face. while not nailing the landing, the show starts fairly compelling with the leadup to souji joining the academy, if you watched just that part, you might be compelled to give the show an 8, but it doesn't hold that momentum for long.
the quick bites you need to know to
...
understand the show, which is fairly dark despite the art style implying otherwise, is that there's an upheavel in spirit sorcerery, and new generations of spirits are using digital forms that require digital techniques to fight. our boy souji, a nuisance streamer who works to take care of his sister, gets caught up into the world of sorcery by accident, having drawn attention from the main villain of the show and is given a power others fear as inherintly evil and is taken in by the strongest to go to a school of other people who draw power from their shitty personalities.
some similarities should be made pretty aware by now. functionally this show is the first season of jjk, in 12 episodes. but lets not make more comparisons, lets go over what we get done in this season. after proving himself to the principal that he had the necessary grit to be a sorcerer, he and his classmates get assigned to the curses in a building, but the curses are stronger than expected, and they almost die. after that they conduct a practice battle between class A and B, which doesnt go exactly as planned.
okay i know what you are thinking. its not that bad. the show does have some of its own charm, but the main issue is its insufficiently deep copying of jjk. the power system so far is spirit energy goes into phone, phenomena manifests, with an advanced version shown later. every sorcerer has a phenomena directly related to their personality, meaning there are duplicates. souji produces fire, as does anyone else who is primarily known for being a rage baiter online. his male classmate weilds a ban hammer, and his female uses clingy gel. its all very charming in practice, but without the underlying generic power system of cursed energy reinforcement, binding vows, and barrier techniques, every character feels extremely weak. all signs indicate that this show is going to be a team sport fighting show, instead of the 'every sorcerer dies alone' sort of show. maybe they hit their stride later, but otherwise this is just a completely average battle shonen that fits so perfectly into its place as a third generation shounen that its almost laughable.
(dragonball of course) -> bleach -> jjk -> dead account
its a palatable enough watch but it feels like a fusion of black clover and jjk in a very bad way, so im expecting the quality to continue to slump with time. 5/10 + 1 for having a few compelling moments and a compelling episode. for 6/10

" Digital Ghost Hunters "
Usually we expect to see fancy dressing sense with rare sealed cursed equipment and a dark gloomy atmosphere in anime based on exorcism and ghost hunting . Dead is a pretty good concept of having a power system which is based on on mobile phone batteries even ghosts are digital . They have accounts online the more people follow it the more strong they become .
It gives you a little bit of JJk vibe because of academy setting and a quota of exorcising evil spirits but it's a not deep as JJk it's just a simple shonen which can be

enjoyed easily . Character designs aren't much special , decent VA , fire op song and some cool fighting sequences . I liked backstories too . I don't know much about Og source but yeah it's enjoyable pretty much . I won't mind another season but they should make long shonen , 12 epos aren't enough to analyze anime perfectly .

It's quite boring and the dialogue is weak and the character writing isn't much better. Characters being assholes for the sake of being assholes and being pretty one dimensional and so far they all have 1 character trait and that's it and it isn't even an interesting one. Watch The Dark Gathering if you want an interesting shounen supernatural anime with good character development, dialogue, an intriguing plot, and characters that aren't one dimensional with a story that will actually make you give a shit. I'm done with my review but I'm being forced to write more for literally no reason so I'm just going
