I feel like this anime is really underrated simply because there's no gore in it. That's not the point of this anime. Although the name can be a little misleading (I mean, you read "torturer" and immediately think gore and horror, am I right?), again, the gore is not the main subject here; it is more like an excuse to make things more extreme and unexpected in a certain way.
Cute and funny characters in soft and colorful scenarios talking about torturing and punishing those who are evil in gruesome ways: that's what this anime is about.

think that their job could be anything related to crime or similar stuff, and it wouldn't change much of their dynamic.
The characters manage to be a bit clichรฉ but unique in their own way. This anime likes to play with the "opposite of what you expect" with them, which I found funny and interesting.
Now, there's bromance, a bit of fanservice, and cute (and romantic) moments between the characters, but the anime tries to remind you that it is not a BL, so like many similar animes, don't expect anything. It's just guys being cute with each other.
Some parts bothered me for being way too predictable (like having a weirdly obsessed younger sibling, dead wife, and fanservice at the beach episode), but it is something that made me put this anime with the comfy cliches that we all need sometimes.

Slice of life meets torture.
Was this a bad anime? No. Was it a great anime? Not for me at least. I found it a little too slow and boring for my taste. It really errs on the slice of life side with torture as it's base for the premise. I found myself watching this on 1.5x speed.
Not sure what I was expecting without reading the synopsis but if you want a slower paced, adult cast anime, where you only ever see a little blood spatter then give it a whirl.
The art style is suited well for an anime like this.

A slice of life combined with BL, good animation and expressful characters would make you think that it would be a good combination? Well in most cases yes but the combination to adding torturing as a normal thing to do, not so much, I have no idea how someone came up with the idea to bring this to another medium that the original was but here we are.
if you enjoy characterโdriven comedy with a strange workplace you would still like to avoid this one as the main work is torture.
The art style is surprisingly clean and expressive, which creates a strange contrast with the subject
