This was one nice romance isekai anime. Despite not having good animation or some epic battle plot it still manager to punch it's own weight because it's romance story is so good and it's development is amazing.
Animation and music: sadly, this is easily the worst part of the show. Animation is not as bad at the first glance, the book like effect they did to the background is very unique. But when the fighting scenes came you can notice that they were really on a budget. The music is industry standard, it's doing it's job at creating the mood and nothing much else. No memorable
...
tracks as well, although the unique songs sang at the middle of the show were nice.
Overall - you can tell that this show is on the budget, which is really shame but at least the usual slice of life scenes look decent. Music is average at best.
Characters: Now this is where this show really shines for most people that enjoyed it, as most of the characters are very well written and their interactions and the way how they managed their personal issues are presented splendidly. Yoki is our MC, he is reincarnated person and he is a member of a daemon race. At the start he is just lazing around, not being interested in attacking humans or generally being a bad guy. But that all changed since he meet Cecilia, who gave him such an inspiration that he turned his life around for the better. Cecilia herself is pretty bland, but she is caring and cute levelheaded young maiden. It is her influence and charisma that shape the show and the development of so many people around her. We also have members of hero's party who each have their own dilemma and somewhat of an redemption arc. And finally we have daemonic servants who were under Yoki's command, who joined their captain in trying to fit into human society and live a decent lives. There are few others I must mention like Kleiman and Sophia, who are former adventurers turned into guild substitute headmaster and chief maid. Then finally we have Gar and Tina, gargoyle and local peasant girl. Each and every one of them are likable and relatable to a way and their presence just make the entire thing that much better. I would say that core of this story and why is it so good are all of these characters and their interactions.
Overall - the story really shines in this area. Easily the best part of the show and it's somewhat of a saving grace.
Story: sadly, I have mixed feelings here. The story is about Yoki who was member of daemon king's army, but after falling in love with member of hero's party Cecilia he decides that he will try his best to become human and win over her heart in an honest and right way. The story from there develops into Yoki doing daily adventuring grind, hanging out with Cecilia and helping others resolve their life issues. The main issue I have with the story is how different from the manga it is. While the basic plot and story remain the same a lot of details get changed, and in my opinion it's for the worse. Last two episodes are especially guilty of this, if you read the manga you know what I am talking about. Suffice it to say, anime only watchers will not be that disappointed by the experience but those who read the manga will find it very interior version.
Overall - the story itself is fine as it follows basic plot and it introduces some major events here and there. But the changes made from the manga really hamper it down.
Overall grade: 10 for me, as I quite enjoyed it. But realistic grade is around 7. No matter how good the characters are and their development stories they still have to carry it as story it self is kind of bland when compared to the manga and animation is not great.
Still, if you do not mind bad animation and average storyline then the romance in this anime and character development are more than worth it. That is I am recommend it to whoever might find some enjoyment in these two categories.

This is a series I wanted to like, and there are things I did like, but the issue is, there are also things I disliked, and so we are here
So firstly, the initial plot episode and everything about the first episode I liked, the overpowered low ranked demon falls for the healer and confesses his feelings, gets rejected, but goes to live in the human world as an adventurer to work hard so he can confess to her again.
It's a simple premise but there is much that can be done with it and it also allows it to stand out.
It was cute, and I did
...
like the romance elements, I liked the characters, there were things I did like, BUT...
For me the series started to then slowly fall flat, it wasn't something I noticed at first but after a while I began to realise that it had actually become rather dull and wasn't really going anywhere.
So much of the series was spending time on supporting characters and their relationships, their stories, it progressed their characters and not the main characters.
This is supposed to be a romance focused on our main two characters and yet we don't spend anywhere near enough time with the both of them developing their relationship.
So it feels like nothing happens for pretty much most of the thing, and then we get to the last few episodes and it realises that something should happen.
Now here's the thing, I like a series that develops its characters and spends time fleshing out those characters, so in theory I should be all for the character development that the supporting characters and their relationships get. But not when it comes at the cost of the main story and at the cost of developing the relationship between the main characters.
With this it's a case of which supporting character are we spending our time with this episode, what is going to be the distraction or supporting character issue that Youki resolves, and maybe we'll spend 5 minutes with Cecilia as our reward.
It also spends far more time than it should on pointless adventures, and I get it, Youki is an adventurer living the adventurer life, but all it does here is make it feel directionless and in all honesty, boring, because you are wasting time on some side adventure that doesn't matter. It takes away from the focus and ends us feeling aimless as a result, you can't be everything, and a 13 episode season doesn't have enough runtime to try and be everything.
You can't do the standard isekai adventurer anime route, and then also merge in a romance anime and not expect it to suffer because you will lose things from both, leaving you with a hybrid that is not quite there.
There is a reason why the romance elements in so many fantasy adventure series feel so shallow, because they don't have the time to develop them because doing so would take away from the main story and what makes it a fantasy adventure.
Likewise there is very little adventure in romance series, and what adventure there is usually is used to create a 'suspension bridge effect' to bring the main characters closer.
The art style I don't care about, it felt like a choice, it didn't affect my enjoyment of the series negatively, it's not great looking but I wouldn't mark it down for it.
In terms of an isekai fantasy romance Seijo no Maryoku wa Bannou desu Season 1 does it so much better, same with Madougushi Dahliya wa Utsumukanai.
When you consider the standard, and compare this to the competition, it just feels lacking. Which is a shame because it had a great premise, it had already done enough to stand out amongst the crowd, but it then failed horribly in its execution, and is just lacklustre.
It's average at best, mediocre at worst

There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero's Party, so I Tried Confessing to Her" already sounds like one of those anime where you know exactly what will happen just from the title, but I tried going into this one with an open mind. Truth be told, the first episode was actually rather sweet, even if it was filled with stereotypes. The isekai aspect, being an overpowered demon, and so on are all things that every anime season seems to spawn five more of, but considering I liked the first episode way more than I expected, I settled in for the long run. And now,
...
looking back at it, I kind of regret it.
As the show went on, every episode became less and less special until it was just an empty husk of your average isekai with a romance twist. While our main character Youki confesses in the first episode, there are a lot of nonsensical and random side quests in between. At the start, it makes total sense for our heroine Cecilia to reject Youki since she has no idea who he is, but as time goes on, it becomes rather obvious that she reciprocates those feelings. The anime could have ended after two or three episodes, but of course it all gets dragged out across the full length of thirteen episodes. None of the other ideas or concepts were interesting or intriguing in any way, even though there are small bits of cute romantic development scattered throughout. In fact, there is a secondary couple that has much better development and ends up getting together rather quickly. But of course, our actual protagonists are awkward and cannot communicate their feelings, which causes the romance to stay stuck in the same place for most of the show.
Now, I will be the first to admit that I did not see the events of the last episode coming. It was actually surprisingly adorable. I was not expecting a dual confession. But the problem is that it just does not feel earned. There was not enough development in the episodes before to make it feel natural. It actually feels rushed, like the last episode just wanted to end things with a bang rather than build a progression that makes sense. All of this is eventually capped off with an extremely awkward hug, which does feel in character but ends up being unsatisfying and lackluster. The confessions also lacked weight, and I feel like the characters could have said so much more.
None of the characters were memorable, and the art style was very simple. The music was average at best, and the only thing I can really praise is the voice acting performance by Kana Hanazawa for Cecilia, which was fantastic as usual. You know how people always say "Never judge a book by its cover?" I usually believe that, but sometimes you really can tell exactly what an anime will be like just from the title and cover alone. This anime ended up going exactly how I thought it would, and I was left disappointed. There are some decent moments hidden in between, but I feel like it's not enough to redeem the rest. I cannot fully recommend watching it unless you are specifically looking for a stereotypical isekai with a romance twist that plays out exactly how you would expect.
