Hidden in plain sight, an age-old conflict rages on. Supernatural monsters known as Curses terrorize humanity from the shadows, and powerful humans known as Jujutsu sorcerers use mystical arts to exterminate them. When high school student Yuuji Itadori finds a dried-up finger of the legendary Curse Sukuna Ryoumen, he suddenly finds himself joining this bloody conflict.
Attacked by a Curse attracted to the finger's power, Yuuji makes a reckless decision to protect himself, gaining the power to combat Curses in the process but also unwittingly unleashing the malicious Sukuna into the world once more. Though Yuuji can control and confine Sukuna to his own body, the Jujutsu world classifies Yuuji as a dangerous, high-level Curse who must be exterminated.
Detained and sentenced to death, Yuuji meets Satoru Gojouβa teacher at Jujutsu High Schoolβwho explains that despite his imminent execution, there is an alternative for him. Being a rare vessel to Sukuna, if Yuuji were to die, then Sukuna would perish too. Therefore, if Yuuji were to consume the many other remnants of Sukuna, then Yuuji's subsequent execution would truly eradicate the malicious demon. Taking up this chance to make the world safer and live his life for a little longer, Yuuji enrolls in Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School, jumping headfirst into a harsh and unforgiving battlefield.

Honestly liked this a lot more on a binge read (rather than reading that final arc weekly), everything fits together a little nicer and I actually don't have as many problems with the back end of the manga as I used to. I found myself enjoyed post-shibuya more, with the culling games offering some genuinely memorable moments and fights along with solid additional characters. Shibuya is still the highlight here, and remains one of the best manga arcs I've read to date. However, I found the final arc very fun and came out of it not nearly as disappointed as the rest of the JJK
...
fanbase it seems, that climactic battle was consistently engaging and found new ways to keep it interesting. I find the back end narratively rushed admittedly, with a lot thrown at the reader very quickly in large chunks of text in comparison to the slower and easier start to the manga. Still, its pretty great and a very solid shounen, recommended.

This series definitely earned its early popularity with an interesting power system, endearing characters, and flashy fights that ended up animating quite well. I think the back half of the series suffered from implied character developments and rushed plot beats that took a backseat to mechanically intensive fights that require way more brainpower to follow than the average shonen fight. This would be fine and a niche unto itself if the explanations for these fights didn't take up significantly more real estate than important plot developments and allowing the characters to shine as characters, not simply as action figures. You can tell the author cares
...
a lot about consistency in his approach to the power system, which is admirable, but it created some issues down the stretch. Obviously he had suffered through the demands of writing a popular weekly shonen series, so perhaps this would be asking too much, but I think JJK could have easily stretched out its back half over another 100 chapters or so and still been engaging.

The story was not that unique but the characters were interesting that led me to watch it. But as the manga went on the disappointment just kept on piling. The character development felt too rushed with just fights going on and on without making much sense. It had the potential to be so much more... I did read somewhere that the author was pressured to finish the manga in time which might be the answer for the sudden quality drop.
At some point of time I just stopped reading the text and scrolled through the illustrations. So I would just say that:
Please don't waste your time
...
on the manga. This is the second time after Sword Art Online, that I hope the anime doesn't adapt the exact manga and makes some common sense changes.
