Nanami Momozono is a high school student who has a lot on her plate. Her father had evaded his enormous gambling debts by escaping town, which resulted in his daughter being evicted by the debt collectors. As Nanami muses about her future, she runs into a man hanging onto a tree to escape a dog. She rescues him and tells him about her current situation, prompting the man to offer her his home. He believes that Nanami is more suited than him to be the "Master" of the house, and thus she takes him up on his offer.
Upon arrival, however, Nanami discovers that said house is actually a dilapidated shrine. She is about to double back when a fox familiar and two shrine spirits stop her, mistaking her for their former master Mikage, the land god of the shrine. Upon realization, Tomoeβthe fox familiarβleaves the shrine, refusing to serve Nanami. After a series of events leaves Nanami in grave danger, she summons Tomoe and seals a contract with him to earn his subservience. Now a human land god, Nanami must face new daunting tasks, menacing adversaries, and her handsome and hot-headed familiar.

This story touched my heart in so many ways!
I've always loved the anime for years, but I only got to read the manga recently. The anime already stole my heart, but the manga just gave me so much more insight on the plot and the characters. The whole manga was so well rounded, there was not an arc I did not enjoy. The manga made me laugh and cry so much! I was able to understand each character so much more and fell in love with all of them as well. When they smiled, I smiled as well, and when they cried, I cried
...
with them. The story was so cleverly written. Everything made sense in the end, all the pieces fit the puzzle.
I want to personally thank Julietta Suzuki for bringing this story to life! I will cherish it in my heart forever.
*ps, the manga made me fall in love with Mizuki so hard I just want to hug him all day :( i hate when he's sad he doesnt deserve it!!!

OKAY so! First off i'm definitely not the type to read mangas, I'm one of those people... I've watched anime ever since I was a kid and always refused to read the manga but recently I decided to rewatch the anime and read into the rest of the story.
I rated everything a 10 which might not be a lot from me because I rate everything I watch a 10, but this definitely deserved it.
Story: 10
I love rom-coms and the manga just topped off my dreams for the anime, reading the manga genuinely made me cry, I don't care about cliches, I feel like this
...
anime really touched on our emotions and feelings as the characters try to understand each other. Not much else to say except you should read it :D
Art: 10
I like all sorts of anime art, but I mean personally I think the art was very good.
Character: 10
I love how in this story, every "I'll see you again" actually happened. It showed how everyone overcame different obstacles and that no one is alone, I loved how everyone was connected because of Nanami and because she has such a good heart and soul. The first time I watched it I thought Nanami was an annoying airhead who always embarrasses herself, but I realized how admirable she actually is, she's positively impacted the lives of everyone she meets, even Akura-o who couldn't be stopped by any Gods. She's also 17 and has accomplished a lot, I loved each and every character and their role and path in the Anime. In the end no one was left out and I was able to be satisfied knowing everyone has a good future to live after the end of the manga.
Enjoyment: 10
I enjoyed it so much I finished it in a whole day! It just lured me in, it made me cry, it made me gasp out loud, it made me squirm of joy and excitement as if I was actually watching something.
Overall: 10
I can't stop talking about it, I'm so glad I rewatched it and decided to read the manga, the ending was so good that, although I'm sad, I couldn't have been more satisfied with the ending. This is the first manga I've ever actually read and finished, and I'd like to say, if you are actually reading this. Please give it a read. :)
ps. I'm too lazy to look over for spelling/grammar errors so :3

First I want to clear up that I'm not really into shoujo, not specially like or dislike it, maybe it's just that still haven't come across a title that made me come down hard for the genre and so my familiarity and knowledge of it will be somewhat lacking in various aspects.
Having said that, this is my take on "Kamisama Hajimemashita".
Getting it recomended from a friend that happened to be really enthralled with the anime I started reading the manga feeling skeptical and "surprinsingly"..it didn't really (appealed) to me: the characters, the pacing, the panelling, the drawings, and so on. Again, not terrible, just didn't
...
seemed anything special but not wanting to drop it so early decided to keep on reading, at least until the the resolution of the first arc, at the time never suspected I'd end up finishing it.
CHARACTERS
So, right off the bat it seems evident that a major part of the appeal to the story was right there, Tomoe.
And I don't mean it in a aesthetic sense but in the fact that it's one of the characters that, in contrast with the rest, happens to appear less two-dimensional. You can see different sides to him, some of them maybe stereotypical yes, but it's somewhat relatable to some degree in a personal level.
For example at first he's introduced as the typical "ikemen", dominant guy, sometimes arrogant and a little possessive but as the story progresses gives you a peek of the childish nature behind those attitudes.
Sadly I don't feel that happens with the rest of the characters, even with the MC.
They go through arcs, show some personal growth but don't really show any significant faults in the first place aside some (too obvious) shortcoming.
STORY
Like i already said previously in the beginning it didn't seemed like much but then as the story unfolds I get the feeling that the pacing and narrative started to get better. There are some arcs you feel the urge to see how the matter ends up playing out, altough also there are some pretty dumb outcomes..so there's that too.
ENJOYMENT
I had to say that at times really end up being entertaining. The art was simple and while this didn't change it's hard not to notice the change in skill in the stroke(especially in the shapes and traditional or ceremonial clothes such)along the manga.
Tthe paneling and page layering didn't felt like much but there were some scenes that conveys really well the tone of the context.
