This is a community to post new technical ideas. You got an idea? Don't think that it worth anything if you are not going to start a company. You do not have any chance to submit it to any corporation, even if it is directly related to their business. Corporations do not read such submissions.
But does it mean that the bright idea should be buried? No! Post it here. Let people read and asses it. As minimum you have a chance to show finger to corporations: as soon as it is published, it can not be patented.
The community is moderated. We all know buzz word "mad inventor". So, please, do not send any projects how to save human race or make perpetuum mobile. Only practical things. A simple projects. Doable stuff.
The form is free, but descriptive. The best is to follow USPTO guidelines for provisional patent applications. Here is some help: WIKI, Information from NOLO about provisional patents. And the rest will be clear from posts here.
