According to a media report, US President Donald Trump does not believe that any talks with Iran will be affected by the crash of a US fighter jet.

TV broadcaster NBC News reported, citing a telephone interview with the president, that when asked whether this would have an impact on diplomatic talks, he said: "No, not at all. No, it’s war. We’re in war."

According to several media reports, the US has confirmed that a fighter jet has been shot down in Iran.

One of the two crew members is said to have been rescued by US special forces, while the search for the second continues.

This would be the first loss of a US fighter jet in Iran since the start of the war on February 28.
