Viola Fur is a macroeconomist currently working as an ODI Fellow and Economist at the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan. The ODI Fellowship places early-career economists in the civil services of low and middle-income countries.
Prior to this, Viola was a consultant and advised governments, social enterprises, NGOs and development agencies on macroeconomics and development policy. Viola also worked for the World Bank’s Macroeconomics, Trade and Investment team in Nigeria as well as in research management at the Economic Growth Center. Viola holds a Master's in Public Policy from Yale University, with a thesis examining exchange rate regimes’ effect on growth in developing countries, and a First Class Honours degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford.
Viola has been published in the Cornell International Affairs Review and the LSE South Asia Blog, and is fluent in French, Hungarian, Russian and Spanish.
