In Indian lore, a type of bhūt, the malignant ghost of a man who was killed during a hunt. The ghost lives in the hills and travels with a pack of spectral dogs, and its saliva is said to be poisonous. Those who encounter an airi usually die of fright, but a person who is strong enough to survive is rewarded with treasures.
