Who should get an AI kill switch?Last week, the Trump Administration ordered Anthropic to cut off access to its most advanced AI models — Mythos 5 and the pared-down public version, Fable 5 — from foreign nationals due to reported security weaknesses in Fable's safeguards. In response, Anthropic shut them down for everyone including the handful of companies that had been granted access to Mythos. One of those companies is Mozilla, which said Mythos identified about 270 bugs in its Firefox browser that had slipped through previous reviews. Marketplace’s Meghan McCarty Carino spoke with Mozilla chief technology officer Raffi Krikorian about the government essentially hitting a kill switch on the system. The Battle Over A.I. in the ClassroomWith the school year ending, all over the country educators and parents are taking stock of the drastic shift caused by artificial intelligence in the classroom. Today, Natasha Singer, a technology reporter, discusses the year that reshaped American classrooms and how one dedicated teacher helped his students chart their own path into an uncertain future. Guest: Natasha Singer, a technology reporter for The New York Times. Background reading: Teachers say they want to equip high school students to drive A.I., rather than be mere passengers steered by chatbots. A.I. companies are urging teachers to prepare students for an “A.I.-driven future.” The American Federation of Teachers recommended “no screens” at all for those in second grade or younger, and no A.I. chatbots for students in elementary school. Bebe Rexha Talks "New Religion," "I'm A Mess" and New Album 'Dirty Blonde'Bebe Rexha returns to the couch for one of her most vulnerable conversations yet. Having visited us countless times over the years, this interview skips the small talk and dives straight into the reality of rebuilding yourself after setbacks. As she enters a new independent chapter and prepares to release her new album 'Dirty Blonde,' Bebe opens up about faltering confidence, questioning her place in the industry, and the emotional toll of constantly hustling in a business that can be as discouraging as it is rewarding. We also discuss why she says "old Bebe is dead," the summer heartbreak that inspired much of 'Dirty Blonde,' and the challenge of resisting comparison in an industry built on it. Along the way, Bebe shares stories behind hits like “Me, Myself & I,” “Hey Mama,” and “Meant to Be,” explains why some of her biggest songs for others (“The Monster”) were originally intended for herself, talks about working with Billy Ray Cyrus and Hit-Boy, and reflects on being a songwriter first, producer second, and artist always. The 'Understanding Depression' Episode Everyone Should Listen ToYou’ll want to send this episode to every friend who casually drops the phrase "I'm so depressed" when they're just having a bad day, or anyone trying to figure out where normal sadness ends and something much heavier begins. Have you noticed how casually we throw around major mental health terms over coffee, accidentally minimizing a condition that deeply impacts both the brain and the body? In this episode of But Are You Happy?, host Ashani Dante sits down with clinical psychologist Julie Chapman to explore the complex reality of depression. We go beyond the casual slang to uncover what it truly means. Together, they discuss the danger of casual language and why confusing ordinary sadness with a clinical episode does a disservice to both. Julie breaks down why depression looks completely different from the outside depending on who is experiencing it, meaning those closest to you might only ever see the tiniest cracks. They look at how a major life shift, like a relationship breakdown or having children, can shatter the protective people-pleasing structures keeping our underlying pain at bay, while confronting the physical reality of mental illness to dismantle the myth that we are just heads on sticks. The conversation also explores the relationship between our minds and bodies, challenging common assumptions about what a depressive episode looks like and offering practical insights into recognising a system failure before the spiral takes over. - Imagine the next messiah doesn’t come from religion, but from the tech world. Chartrulean abandoned piety for progress, becoming the savior the world needed anyway. But at what cost? The Jhardeho Order named him messiah and taught him that progress means corruption. He defected. Then, House Starbringer handed him the power to end a centuries-long war. What Chartrulean chose split his world in two. Now he fears he was wrong and is haunted by the manifestation of his choices. His troubled past surfaces as fear, anger, and doubt, threatening the fragile relationships he's built. Chartrulean must reconcile with the gods — and kings — he angered — before succumbing to the madness he created. The Madness of Chartrulean is a character-driven sci-fi epic for fans of Dune, Foundation, and Game of Thrones. Blending political drama, Shakespearean tragedy, and mythic futurism, it explores the moral ambiguities of power. Vol. 1 is out now, with over 8 hours of content across 13 full-length episodes and bonus material. Listen anywhere you find podcasts, or dive deeper into the world with the story compendium.
