上図のように、半径rの円の円周上に点P(x,y)があり、線分OPとx軸のなす角をθとするとき、
cos(θ) = \frac{x}{r} \\
sin(θ) = \frac{y}{r}
と定義する。
これは「定義」なので、そういうものだと覚えてしまうのがよい。そして、r = 1 として点Pを円周に沿って動かしたときのθとx,yの関係が、よく見るsin,cosのグラフである。
