Unable to Create Amazon QuickSight Account – Signup Loop and ServiceError

1

Hello AWS team,

I am the root user of Account ID .......... and I am unable to create an Amazon QuickSight account in US East (N. Virginia) and US East (Ohio) regions.

During signup, I encounter malformed URLs in dev tools network section such as:

  • .../signup//accounts/enterprise...
  • .../accounts/account_id/managed-application-instance?Operation=DescribeManagedApplicationInstance...

The console briefly shows the account creation page, then refreshes back to the name/email entry form in a loop. Eventually, I receive the error:

ServiceError: Account does not have subscription to AmazonQuickSight.

This prevents me from completing QuickSight signup and blocks me from creating dashboards.

I urgently need QuickSight enabled because I already have my S3 bucket and Amazon Athena datasets ready, and my final IoT project deadline is Wednesday, December 17th.

Could you please confirm if this is a service-side provisioning issue and help enable QuickSight for my account?

Thank you,
Caleb

Hello.

Did you create your AWS account recently?
Also, are you using a free AWS account?
In that case, you may need to change your AWS account to a paid account as explained in the answer at the URL below.

If you already have a paid AWS account, I recommend that you contact AWS Support and open a case under "Account and billing".
"Account and billing" inquiries are free of charge.

I checked and i have been billed 0 dollars last month for my account so i have a valid payment method. Could you elaborate on how to make my aws account paid and how much will it cost? As i thought with a free account you could get 30 days free of amazon quick suite

You can upgrade from a free account to a paid account by following the steps in the document below. However, please note that once you upgrade, you cannot revert to a free account. The $120 credit should carry over to your paid account, so you shouldn't be charged for eligible services while the credit remains. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/awsaccountbilling/latest/aboutv2/free-tier-plans.html

After your free account plan expires, your account closes automatically, and you lose access to your resources and data. AWS retains your content for 90 days before permanently deleting your account and all associated resources. To maintain your account access, you can upgrade to a Paid account plan with pay-as-you-go pricing within 90 days. Any remaining credits from your free account plan are automatically applied to future AWS bills.

It appears you're experiencing issues creating an Amazon QuickSight account, which could be happening for several reasons:

  1. Regional availability: While you're trying to create your QuickSight account in US East (N. Virginia) and US East (Ohio), it's worth noting that some of the newer AI-powered features in Quick Suite (which includes QuickSight) are only available in specific regions: US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Europe (Dublin), and Asia Pacific (Sydney).

  2. Account verification: Your AWS account may not have completed all verification stages, which can limit access to certain services like QuickSight.

  3. Permissions issues: There might be permission restrictions at the account level limiting your access, even as the root user.

  4. Billing issues: The "Account does not have subscription to AmazonQuickSight" error could indicate a billing-related issue. Check if your AWS account has any outstanding payments or if it's been suspended for non-payment.

To troubleshoot this issue:

  • Ensure your AWS account has completed all verification stages
  • Clear your browser cache and cookies, then try again
  • Try using a different browser or an incognito/private window
  • Temporarily disable browser extensions, especially security-related ones
  • Check if your network is blocking access to AWS services

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting AWS Support directly through the Support Center. They can help with your specific account situation and ensure QuickSight is properly enabled before your December 17th deadline.
