In 2002 my boyfriend at the time told me to check Otep out. That I would be amazed at the voice of the lead singer who was a female. The only rock band that hada female in it that I knew at the time was Kittie so my courious got me. I downloaded Blood Pigs and T.R.I.C. I was amazed at the voice and the lyrics. I had never heard anything like it before. Most lyrics aren't written the same way. So shortly then I bought Sevas Tra and as well joined on the Otep board. I actually felt a conncetion to the other Shadow Soldiers and knew this was a band and community I was ment to be apart of it.

Listening to Otep has inspired me to create, fight for my beliefs and open my eyes. At the time I was very confused and depress. The guy I was with had really messed me up and a band he told me to check out made me see who he really is. Since then I have done lots of creating and regaining who I am as a person.

I was wondering if you'd like to share the reasons why you all love Otep, or what the band has done for you? I love to hear the stories or reasons behind an individuals adoration of a band, especially Otep.

I've loved Otep for about 4 years now, it all started one summer when my friend introduced me to them. The first song i heard was "blood pig", and i fell in love. I soon after bought "sevas tra", and listened non-stop. Otep's lyrics and poetry knock on the very core of my being, they inspire me, they fill me with pain and torment, and the blood in her voice is beyond amazing. The struggles she's transcended are unfathomable, and she continues to amaze me, as does the band. I was lucky enough to see them in concert last december, and i was blown outa the water. During "Jonestown tea", i was reminded of the root of pain, and the reason itself that i've loved the band, and will continue too. I'll forever be a shadow soldier, and lover of the band.

Some people over at Vampire Freaks are saying Otep is like Slipknot with a female singer...

Opinions and thoughts??? anyone???

edit:// Here's one of the links of what people are saying about otep. In this one, more people say Otep is like Korn, but there's another one where it was mainly about otep and slipknot being alike, I'll find it later.

A lot of Otep bashing on here So try not getting all offensive. People have opinions and are aloud to share them so don't get your panties in a bunch :)
