Hi everyone. I'm BrittleLizard. Most people call me Brittle or Liz.

I've had an interest in RPG Maker horror games since I was a kid, so I'm certain I had an account here years ago. I was also probably in middle school, though, so... some things are best left forgotten.

Now I tend to develop games that make heavy use of my writing degree. I'm very fixated on storytelling in all of its forms, and I really like exploring how it can be best utilized in video games.

I mostly use MV or MZ when I'm not writing code in GameMaker. Currently I'm working on False Fruit V2, a huge update to an RPG Maker Horror Jam entry that a friend and I developed around a year ago. (It won first place!) I'm planning to post it here when it releases, and I look forward to seeing what everyone else is making!

Welcome here! Looking forward to seeing what games you share with us! Always nice to have writers around.

Have fun and share your creativity with us.
Whoa, a lizard! Welcome to RMN! I love storytelling as well, though that itch has been more scratched by table-top RPGs for me lately.

I really like the planning phase, so I feel like I'd be constantly at odds with the way TTRPGs tell super emergent stories ^^' I've really wanted to try playing Monster of the Week though

That is very fair! Personally I struggle with long-term planning (hello ADHD), so being able to craft a story collaboratively on the fly is very appealing. I've heard of Monster of the Week! I should give that a try.

Whoa, a lizard!

Don’t let Muffle find out about this.

(I miss Muffle...) :(

Anyway…welcome to the team, Brittle. As you can probably guess, we’re severely lacking in overall lizard representation around here. So the more the merrier.

It's funny because that's the exact reason I like planning everything out so much. ADHD just kind of turns all my ideas into a big puddle until I manually organize each of them

Yesss yesss storytelling yesss \(TAT)/

Your writing about your horror background reminded me of my relationship to the broader genre. I've been holding back composing horror music, on my own, but I feel like it's something I really want to tackle for a game soundtrack. But-- I'm also squeamish about most morbid horror.. :P It would be refreshing to have a place for those song ideas, one day.

I'm always very jealous of anyone who can compose music. It's one of my favorite aspects of the medium, but I just haven't had the opportunity to learn it myself yet. It feels like a really huge undertaking, then horror soundtracks tend to be super weird and experimental on top of that. I'll keep you in mind if I ever have some extra money and need a few tracks though
