MinXSS-3
Miniature X-ray Solar Spectrometer (AKA: INSPIRESat-1 [International Satellite Program in Research and Education Sat-1])
The third of three CubeSats studying X-rays coming from solar flares – which can interfere with GPS, radio, and other communications signals when they reach Earth. Its particular focus: wavelengths known as soft X-rays, rarely studied and especially disruptive in the ionosphere, Earth’s electrified upper atmosphere where communication signals travel.
