When you sign up as a selling partner on Amazon, you'll automatically be enrolled in Fulfilment by Amazon for free. If you decide to make use of this option, you'll send inventory to Amazon fulfilment centres and Amazon will handle shipping, customer service, refunds and returns for those products. When to fulfil orders yourself

Fulfilment by Seller may be best if your products are not suitable for Fulfilment by Amazon, such as hazardous goods that do not meet fulfilment centre requirements or seasonal products that could incur excessive storage costs. What's more, you may not need Fulfilment by Amazon if you already have a fulfilment network.

In cases like these, Fulfilment by Seller allows you to:
  • Keep your inventory on hand
  • Use your own packaging or labels
  • Stay profitable on products with tighter margins
  • Offer products that are eligible for sale on Amazon, but that are ineligible for Fulfilment by Amazon

Amazon dropshipping policy

Dropshipping, or allowing a third party to fulfil customer orders on your behalf, is generally acceptable. If you intend to fulfil orders using a dropshipping service, you must always:
  • Remain the official selling partner of your products.
  • Identify yourself as the selling partner of your products on all packing slips and other information included or provided in connection with the packages.
  • Be responsible for accepting and processing products returned by customers.
  • Comply with all other terms of your selling agreement and applicable Amazon policies.

Examples of dropshipping that are NOT permitted:

  • Purchasing products from another online retailer and having that retailer ship directly to customers.
  • Shipping orders with packing slips, invoices or other information indicating another selling partner's name or contact information other than your own.
Failure to comply with these requirements may result in your selling privileges being suspended or revoked.
