Looking to Build in Altadena
Progress on Pine Street! First Habitat Rebuild in Altadena
Step onto Pine Street in Altadena and see how far we’ve come!
Thanks to the incredible support of our partners, donors, and volunteers, the Pine Street rebuild site is transforming—one wall, one home, and one act of kindness at a time.
What started as a vision to help families rebuild after the Eaton Fires is now taking shape before our eyes. Together, we’re not just building homes—we’re rebuilding hope, restoring community, and creating a stronger Altadena for generations to come.
The Power of Partnership – Green Fenix
“One of the biggest things that it (the Eaton Fire) took from our community is the greenery and the canopy that kind of helped define what Altadena was.” Following the Eaton Fire, families across Altadena lost more than their homes. They lost the mature tree canopy that helped define the community’s character, beauty, and identity…
The Rebuilding in Altadena has Begun!
Construction on Pine Street in Altadena is moving full speed ahead. The first home and ADU are taking shape with walls raised, roofs framed, and siding underway. Thanks to dedicated volunteers, partners, and donors, the once-empty lots are transforming into safe, stable homes for families rebuilding after the Eaton Fires.
7 New Homeowners in El Sereno
In August, SGV Habitat celebrated seven first-time homebuyers in El Sereno—the first to purchase renovated Caltrans properties and our 100th family to achieve homeownership. Since May 2024, volunteers and partners have transformed former Caltrans lots into affordable homes, completing seven builds with 11 more planned.
Success stories
Since our founding in 1990, all families who have completed our homeownership program have had a 100% success rate with zero foreclosures or defaults! Charity Navigator has ranked us in the top 1% of non-profits – with 96% of all donations going to build and repair more homes.
