Update on HyD TV production of Shattered Death [Feb. 18th, 2006|01:25 am]

Currently working on obtaining several older computers for the render farm needed for this project. The possibility to lease out the farm to finance other materials needed is being considered, as well as free and low cost options for getting what is needed.

The render farm will require:
minimum of 5 computers, from 500Mhz to 3Ghz each
Linux for each computer
Minimum 8 port ethernet hub
Bryce 5
Maya or similar animation program

I have procured the use of a video camera, to start learning the skills needed to start shooting and editing. Also, using the tv capture device, I have also been working on editing out commercials from shows. So far, because the sound seems off, this has been a hit and miss thing.

Also, looking to procure the devices and supplies needed for producing the special effects needed for the show.

50-100 pounds of pig organs and intestines
latex for making special effects
makeup
plaster for face casts
fake limbs
clothing that can be messed up or destroyed
5 gallons of bbq sauce, colored to mimic fake blood
50 gallons of corn syrup blood, or other type of fake blood

Also searching out a location for shooting, along with other supplies needed for such a shoot. Also looking at getting the use of a local television station's news desk setup, or cobbling one together for news feeds.

Rest assured, phase 2 is starting, and Shattered Death will be progressing from the written word to show, hopefully within a 1 year timeframe. However, I am looking at 6 month as my personal deadline.

Phase 1 is nearing completion. However, I do have the capture card in place and working, and already starting phase 2, which is learning the software needed to accomplish my goal. For now, this is easy with tv captures, and soon editing video shot myself.

So far, script is in process for the first episode of Shattered Death, along with the Proof of Concept video for investors or donators.

Because I am on a uber tight budget, I'm having to get things set up in bits and pieces. Currently, I am having to use the Toshiba Satellite that I already own. Today, I went ahead and ordered a video capture/tv tuner USB device, which will allow standard television feeds, VCR, DVD Player, video game console, and even FM tuner to feed into the computer.

With this, it should allow me to go ahead and get either a digital video camera, or a standard video camera, and use the tuner capture device to convert it into digital. This should allow me to go ahead and edit and manipulate the feed.

Also found the programs needed to convert to and from Divx, burn to a blank DVD, add a secondary feed to the video feed, amd distribute it on the internet. I also found a few sites that would be able and willing to spread the finished product.

Once I get at least 1 camera, I can get Phase 1 complete, and start Phase 2.

Efforts are currently underway to bring Shattered Death to the small screen, via HyD TV. But, just getting things off the ground takes money to do. So, seeing that I am on the poor side of things, if anyone has any ideas to raise the funding needed to get equipment, licenses, servers, web design, and of course, actors, please share them.

The future of television is here!

I had one hell of a brainstorm here today. If I can get the money to pull it off, I will be bringing the future of television programming and zombie stories to the forefront of modern tech.

Just a matter of getting the funds to get started.

May you live in interesting times
-Ancient Chineese curse

Seems whenever things start getting better, they fall down and go boom. Case in point: My computer.

It ran fine till the 5th, when it decided to just up and die on me. I traced out the issue, and found that the hard drive was the culprit. It decided to have a sector zero error, killing the hard drive. But, because I just got it not that long ago, I tried to get ahold of Toshiba and get it fixed.

You'd think being in this area of Washington, they'd at least have a nearby service center. Nope. Closest one was in Oregon. They recommended me to take it to a UPS Store, and have it shipped to them. Come to find out, again nothing even close by. Instead of sending me the hard drive to replace on my own, they insisted that they needed me to send my whole computer to them.

So, I waited 2 days for the empty box to get here, filled with packing material and the return shipping label. Sent it off, and they recieved it on Thursday. Did they fix it then? Nope. Instead, they left it sitting on a shelf till Monday, and THEN worked on it.

They also replaced the motherboard in it, for unknown reasons. I got it back yesterday in the following condition:

Hard drive reimaged with a factory installer disc, but left unsealed, making it impossible to do anything.
Battery only holding about 30 minutes worth of charge, down from 90 minutes.
Left speaker doesn't even work.

Well, the battery is easy. THAT they'd fix without needing my whole computer, even though it would be an inconveniance to me waiting for it. The hard drive just needed a reformatting with the image disc included with the system.

But to fix the speaker means sending it back out again, leaving me without a computer for at least another 2 weeks.

No way in hell.

So I get to make do till something else goes wrong, or till they send a technician to me to fix the error, or they walk me through doing the repair my own damn self. The third option sounds good to me, because then I'm the moron putting it together.

the frustrations of being online with arts [Dec. 5th, 2005|03:55 pm]

Recently, Something Positive added a character from Queen of Wands. Those that followed both comics followed the end to QoW, and the small scene where Kestrel popped up in Boston with the Something Positive gang.

Randy recently had Kestrel pop up again, and is now adding her to the cast. Mind you, she's listed in the character's bios as supporting character, and not one of the main characters.

Fans went completely nuts. Many, like myself, were pleasantly shocked to see Kestrel pop back up, and a member of SP now. But a few bad eggs threw a fit. They thought Randy had just scooped up Aeire, stealing from her.

To this I have to say:

WHAT A BUNCH OF FUCKING MORONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1: Anyone in their right minds KNOW that Randy and Aeire worked rather closely together, doing crossovers many times. Only a stark raving idiot would REALLY think that Randy stole Kestrel from Aeire.

2: Something Positive is RANDY'S OWN COMIC, THEREFORE HIS OWN PROPERTY! He can put masturbating pixies into the thing if he wants. If he wanted to end his own comic, it IS HIS RIGHT TO DO SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3: If a fan doesn't like those facts, then shut the fuck up and stop being a whiny little bitch. Don't like it? Then go fuck yourself with a jumbo jet. Sideways if it will fit. Don't be pissing and moaning. If you don't like Kestrel in there, then either don't read those day's webcomics, or just don't read the comic.

I mean I had problems with fans throwing fits with my meager story when I killed people off, or went onto a tangent. Only once did I change how it was supposed to go, because people did not want Newt dead. But, that was more a rethinking of plans, and decided that time I needed to revisit the dreams and force a change.

But if Randy suddenly decided to have blue masturbating pixies one day, instead of the normal thing, then as the owner and creator of Something Positive, he has the right to. And I think he should. Teach some of these more rabid fanboys and fangirls to get the hell off his ass.

To Randy and Aeire:

I sincerely apologize for idiots on here, and give my vote of support. I have loved your comics ever since I found them online, and they even helped me decide to offer my stories online. Watching everyone go through their own troubles helped me deal with my own troubles in my life.

When Aeire decided to end Queen of Wands, I was disheartened. But when I saw Kestrel on Something Positive, I was pleasantly shocked, and happy to see that QoW, in some small part, goes on.

If some people are too stupid to realize that this is a good thing, they need to have a visit from Rippy the Razor, for the good of the gene pool. But please keep up the good work there. There are some of us who love what you do.

And Aeire, I do hope to see you in the saddle doing a new project someday. I know it can be frustrating, what with the fucktards loose from their keepers, but there are many decent people who miss seeing new art and work from you.

But both of you, keep your chin up, and remember the masturbating blue pixies. May they bukkake all over the morons.

Another fun update [Nov. 22nd, 2005|02:51 am]

Sorry I have lacked updates at all. Things have been rather rough for me this year in general, making it damn near impossible to get on here and do my duty to everyone.

But, the last month has been another wild trip. Thanks to one extremely thoughtful reader here (you know who you are) I survived getting shot. Thanks for the bullet proof vest. Left me a nasty bruise, but better a bruise than a fucking bullet in my lung or heart.

Now, for those who worry, there is no longer a need for it. I caught the Greyhound out of that fucking place, and out of Massachusetts in general. There were a few good people there (you know who you are). But for the most part, their fucked up laws were a bellyful, and I had more than enough.

Currently, I'm recovering from the bus ride. If I EVER take a trip like that again, please remind me to bite the damned bullet and take the frakking plane! I'd gladly deal with a strip search and whatnot to knock 5 damned days OFF the trip.

Expect some stuff soon on Shattered Death. Just been hard to slip into that part of the world when so much has happened between when I started it in a bedroom on Summer Avenue in Stoughton. Hell, so much has happened since someone told me to quit my bitching about some of the stories I was reading and actually WRITE something.

And yes, yesterday was another birthday, which was rather depressing. At least last year I got out of the house for a few drinks and talked to a cool person. This year was spend in damn near stone silence. And not one birthday well wish or even a spanking. Let's hope the next one is better.

Took a Ride Today...... [Oct. 11th, 2005|06:26 pm]

One of my roommates got something of a free trading site that runs in the area, called Freecycle. Everything on it is free, and usually just needs to be picked up.

Well, she get something from Northampton. She asked if i wanted to tag along, so I could at least get out of the house for a while, and relax. I went along, not realizing that we were going there.

If I had known we were going to be in the vicinity of the old place where Ms X and I lived and did things together, I definitely would have kept my happy ass at home. But, I didn't know till we were in the car, so I was along for the ride.

I'm still royally pissed off at her and her behavior. After all we went through, and all I sacrificed for her, and her bullshit of leaving me, and giving me only one hour to pack. Then to add insult to injury, having to walk for 2 days to get to a place to stay, which was 40 miles away from where we were living in Greenfield. Going over our old stomping grounds merely enraged me to the point I had to physically bite my toungue from going off on a store clerk when I stopped at Walgreens, and they fucked up on something they had listed on sale.

Normally, I'm all sad and weepy when shit like this goes on. But this time, I have nothing but blinding rage and fury towards her and her bullshit. If she was in front of me, it would take every ounce of self control to keep from tearing her limb from limb, and rending her still beating heart from her ribcage.

But, I doubt I'll ever see or hear from her again. Better to have a fresh start, and have to start over, than to ever even lay eyes on her again.

Sigh.

Best bet is to just get the hell out of this state. I don't need the bullshit, and with the gun laws in this state, I cannot deal with living in this fucked up state any longer than I have to. Hopefully things will get better, and have a better place someday in the future.

Interesting Research [Oct. 6th, 2005|08:27 am]

Well, I was delayed on my entries due to some research I was up to. This morning, I was researching some surprising gun facts.

Instances of gun violence and accidents INCREASE the more gun laws restict legal ownership. Amazing that the top 10 states for gun violence are ALSO the 10 most restrictive states for gun ownership.

States where gun ownership is less restrictive has shown a marked drop in gun related violence.

A direct correlation between may issue states and shall issue states for gun violence also shows that shall issue states have a marked drop in violence.

80% of the time when a carry concealed weapon permit holder draws a firearm for self protection, the gun is never even discharged. Only 5% of the time is the gun used to injure or kill the assailant.

No records exist for CCW permit holders shooting an officer of the law, while there have been many reports of CCW permit holders SAVING law officials with their legal firearms.

Much of these are in unrelated databases, from the NRA to Anti-gun lobby websites. However, it took me hours of looking at these unrelated facts to see the connections. Also amazing is the fact that while child related gun accidents were about 1200 in 2001, they made up a mere 1.5% of accidental fatalities. Most of these accidents could have been avoided by simple methods that responsible gun owners carry out.

Because of this, and more, I'm seriously thinking of getting the hell out of this state. Where I live right now, I can get an illegal gun for as cheap as $40, and I hear gunfire all the time. However, Massachusetts has some of the tightest gun laws in the books. So while law abiding citizens are stuck cowering in their homes, punks with illegal weapons can go around as they please.

If you live in a restrictive state, I suggest lobbying for less gun laws. I feel backround checks are a good thing, as they make sure that psychos and criminals aren't buying guns. But, since I am not either one of these, it should be no problem for me to own one. Here in the state of Massholes, I can't even get damn pepper spray without a permit.

Maybe Washington state, Nevada, or other less restrictive state would be better for me.

Oh well. For now, I'll just get back to researching. Will link this at Hotel 23 (link to it in story journal profile) and see what they have to say on it.
