The Austronesian languages are a language family. They were originally spoken in Southeast Asia and on islands in the Pacific Ocean. It is composed of about 1000 languages,[1] spread widely from Madagascar to Easter Island, from New Zealand to Taiwan. The languages started to be distinct from Proto-Austronesian language about 6000 years ago.
