Kyokko is the name of a Japanese artificial satellite which was put into orbit. The name means the Northern Lights in Japanese.
The launch was a project of the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science of the University of Tokyo.
The satellite was sent into orbit on February 4, 1978.[1]
