Johnson's G650 Suffered A Hydraulic Issue In March

In late March, the actor’s Gulfstream G650 experienced an in-flight mechanical issue that forced the aircraft to turn back shortly after departure. Johnson was en route from Hawaii to Houston, Texas, to attend the opening of the United Football League’s second season, a league he co-owns, when the problem occurred.

Roughly 35 to 40 minutes into the flight, the pilot informed Johnson of a hydraulics overheating issue that made it unsafe to continue flying over the ocean. The pilot decided to return to Hawaii, prioritizing safety. His aircraft is registered as N444WT and is owned by the South Dakota-based company, Whiskey Tango LLC. Even so, Damon is the main operator of the aircraft.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé also own a Global 7500, registered as N44440. The aircraft was delivered in 2023 and features a minimalist white livery with a single horizontal stripe. Since the acquisition, the couple has used the aircraft extensively for private and professional travel. Additionally, Kylie Jenner is another known owner of a jet.

Notably, the late Niki Lauda, a former Formula 1 champion and the founder of Lauda Air, was one of the first European owners of the Global 7500. Lauda took delivery of the jet in March 2019, shortly after the model received certification from EASA.
