This October, EVA Air will launch a new route to the United States, with the airline connecting Taiwan with Dallas/Fort Worth. The company is the first carrier to do so since at least 2000. This move represents a series of steps the airline has taken to expand in the United States and cater to increasing demand from business passengers.

Last month, EVA Air announced that starting October 3, it will be offering direct flights from Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). Flight BR50 from Taiwan to Dallas will depart on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with the return itinerary, flight BR49, flying back to the island on the same three days of the week.
The flights, operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, are scheduled to leave Taiwan at 19:10 local time (UTC +8) and arrive in Dallas at 19:40 local time (UTC -5), while the return flight is scheduled to depart the US city at 22:50 and arrive back in Taiwan at 04:05+2.
Sun Chia-Ming, the President of EVA Air, highlighted that the airline’s cargo flights have landed in Dallas since 1998. However, with the recent influx of many companies and substantial economic and population growth, the Taiwanese carrier decided to begin passenger flights.
The executive added:
“The opening of the Dallas direct passenger route makes us the only airline in Asia to operate two routes to Texas. We can also take advantage of the world's third-largest airport in terms of passenger traffic to transfer to major cities in the United States and Central and South America, creating more convenience.”
Complementing Its Houston Service
EVA Air highlighted that the new services to Dallas/Fort Worth will complement its flights to Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), which began in July 2015. The 👁 Image
Star Alliance member's frequencies grew from an initial four per week to daily in recent years, data from the aviation analytics company Cirium’s Diio Mi airline planning tool showed, with the airport also being a hub of another Star Alliance member, United Airlines.
EVA Air highlighted that with the flight timings, the new route will result in passengers arriving in Taiwan in the early morning, allowing them to connect to onward flights in Asia, including its extensive network in Northeast and Southeast Asia. The Taiwanese airline stated that the possibilities of onward connections “will help attract business travelers and tourists to transit in Taiwan, effectively leveraging the value and characteristics of Taiwan's transit hub.”
In addition to flights to Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston Intercontinental in October, the Taiwanese carrier has also scheduled services to Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD), New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).
Following the addition of Dallas/Fort Worth, EVA Air will have 376 monthly flights departing for the US, totaling 111,170 seats each way. As per data from Cirium, the route split for one-way flights to the US in December is as follows:

Unsurprisingly, the West Coast hot spots of LAX and SFO are the busiest routes for EVA Air, with 93 monthly flights departing for the two airports each. However, it is Seattle-Tacoma International Airport that has the honor of receiving the airline's new 787 Dreamliners. According to ch-aviation, EVA Air has a total of seven 787-9s and 12 787-10s within its fleet. At least 11 more are listed to be delivered.
More Flights To Taiwan
Cirium also showed that in addition to EVA Air, China Airliness, Delta Air Lines, STARLUX Airlines, and United Airlines will have flights between the US and Taiwan this winter, including four airlines flying to/from San Francisco and Seattle-Tacoma.
The two US-based airlines will offer departures from Seattle-Tacoma to Taipei-Taoyuan (Delta) and from San Francisco and Guam Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport (GUM) to Taipei-Taoyuan (United), with the latter airport serving Guam, a US territory.
Cirium, citing Department of Transportation (DOT) data, showed that in Q4 2024, the average load factors on flights from the US to Taiwan were 78.52%, with EVA Air and Delta Air Lines averaging the highest (81.52%) and lowest (64.61%) load factors during the three-month period.
EVA Airways Finalizes Order For 6 More Airbus A350s & 3 More A321neos
EVA Air previously ordered a batch of Airbus A321neo and A350-1000 aircraft in January 2024.
Business Passenger Segment Opportunities
Altogether, these figures highlight the strong demand for Asia-US flights. A significant portion of these passengers are business personnel, a market EVA Air greatly values. As a result, the airline launched BizFam, which is designed to serve corporate customers across various industries, aiming to provide a seamless and comprehensive travel management platform.
This initiative is built to fill the gap in the corporate travel industry by offering a one-stop solution beyond just booking flights. Businesses can efficiently manage their employees’ travel arrangements, track rewards, and provide exclusive benefits such as free flights, upgrades, and personalized services.
During the launch of this program, Charlie Pan, EVP of EVA Air's Revenue Management Department, told Simple Flying:
EVA Air’s core value of treating business partners as family is deeply embedded in the launch of EVA BizFam, which was created to provide comprehensive, convenient, and thoughtful upgrades to corporate members. We aim to offer a more personalized and flexible approach to corporate travel by ensuring that our partners feel valued and supported. This philosophy aligns with our commitment to building long-term relationships with our global partners, fostering a sense of trust and shared growth in every aspect of our service.
Looking ahead, EVA Air emphasizes that its priority is to deepen its industry alliances and expand its global reach by partnering with a diverse range of enterprises. The airline is keen to integrate technology to create a more dynamic and versatile travel experience. With a robust presence across the tech hubs of Taiwan, California, and Texas, EVA Air is in an excellent position to optimize opportunities for its corporate passengers on both sides of the Pacific.
