8:11PM - Long term effects?

I totally am a fan of slimfast: it help me lose close to 30 lbs about 4 years ago. My eating schedule for about 2 years solid was to have 2 bars for bkfst/lunch and then raeman + veggies for dinner (hey i was a college student at the time) or a beef burger+veggies.
I went from around 180 to 150. It was fantastic.

I've been able to keep it off. I got down to about 145 lbs recently but now i'm back up to 155 and pretty freaking nervous. I;m going to switch back to the slimfast plan.

BUT
I'm wondering about the long term use of this stuff. Like i wrote: i had 2-4 bars a day for a solid 2 years straight. I want to go back on it but.... i'd rather not get diabetes from overuse or something like that.

6:42PM - medication and weight gain

I have ADD Bipolar disorder and I also suffer with depressions.

I have also had issues with eating disorders as well but not lately.

For the past year and a half to two years I have been taking 225mg of effexor and 40 milligrams of Adderal daily which have also aided me in losing about 20 lbs.

Recently the doctor has changed this because he found that together these have caused substantial weight loss.

I had been out of my meds for a month when I saw the doc and by then had gained 15-20 lbs going from my usual 125 lbs to 140!

Now the new mads he has given me have proved to cause even MORE fucking weight gain: Celexa, Seroquel and then I am on my regular 40 milligrams of Adderal and also now I will be taking Yaz.

What are your experiances with Celexa, Seroquel and Yaz? Have you gained weight on these? I have a friend who takes Seroquel and she doesn't experience any weight gain but I think she might be just weird because the general studies I have found say most people gain up to twenty lbs in the first 4 months on it.

I am really freaking out because I want to drop off this damn 20lbs QUICK and I will do this unhealthily if I have to. My next photo shoot is on the 5th and I need to be in the best shape I can be obviously because my livelihood depends on my looks being a model and running a porn site and all.

Any tips or tricks on how to beat the bulge on psychiatric meds?

So, despite the deadend state of this community I'll ask away,,

Chicken,, anyone, fun, flavorfull, tasty yet still healthy chicken ideas?

I only have one, count them 1 way to cook delicious chicken, and that is saturated in butter at best.

Help?

Pee Ess,, I was active here a while ago,, got really homesick and sad and fell off.

But I'm starting anew. My boyfriend moved across country to be with me, and well I feel pretty bad for him that I came out here and gained all this weight (I admit, i'm embarassed for him because of myself) and now I have the support and non-home-sickness of having him here to stick with it.
Plus even though he's slender, he's going to get all health kicky with me (he's been outta semi-pro wrestling for a few years and is feeling flabby lol)

Oh, Pee Ess Ess,, I remember this from last time I was doing this (Optima) and never got an answer but,, anyone elses pee smell funny after a few days of drinking slim fast?

12:20PM - Hi!

So, like everybody else, I am just starting trying out the slim fast diet.  I started a few days ago, and so far I think I have been doing pretty well.  I haven't been eating as badly as I had been in the past.  Right now I weigh about 160, which is my highest weight, and I would love to get down to about 120 (I haven't weighed this much since high school) but we will see how things go.  Right now I am just hoping to get down to like 150-145ish.  I guess thats all for now.  My journal will be pretty much only be updated about my diet so if you want to see my progress just check out my journal.

8:03AM - week 1

So this will be the first full week i'm doing the SlimFast plan. I haven't worked all the kinks out yet, and haven't been perfect, but i'm trying my best.

the 8 glasses of water has been easy.
timing of meals & snacks has been more difficult.
dinners haven't been according to the plan, though i do enter them honstly into the computer.
i do need to do more exercise.

So what helped you make the switch to the plan? how did you make it stick?

also, i attend several social functions that include dinner out. What do you do when you eat out?

7:16PM

So this is end of week one, start of week two.

Since I don't have a scale I kind of have to go by measurements, which won't be as,, accurate, I suppose as a scale would be,,

Last Monday I had a (meep) 42.5 inch waist, with no sucking in or any of thatwhat soever, and this morning it was 41.5 But I'm willing to bet it was only so drastic because of all the flushing and water weight loss...

I guess I did pretty well, especially considering it was the week before my t.o.m. and I can honestly say I had zip cravings,,, especially compared to last month, where I HAD to have ice cream pop tarts and chocolate for almost two weeks...

I haven't had any fast food either, I've even grown a disdain for ramen.... My only issue is night time eating,,, It's not bad though, i'm better than I ever was, I just want to eat more then, now I don't always give in,,,

I've also been eating salads with every meal (except breakfast... :B) but I have a question,,
Does anyone use those Good Seasons brand Italian dressing?? The ones you mix up at home?

How good, or bad are those diet wise?
If anyones familiar with them though, I don't make them to directions, I use the directed amount of water and the season pack, but I almost double the vineger and only 2/3s of the oil,, I know having less oil is better ( I use Enova though so its even better) but is vinigar really a bad thing? It's kind of hard to find caloric and nutritional info for condiments of only one ingredient,,,

I have kind of a strange question,,,

I'm on day two of using the slim fast optima, and I've noticed, even on the first day that,,, when I use the restroom, my urine smells,,, funny?

Has anyone else noticed that? I mean, it literally smells,,, canny,,,, like that last warm sip,,,, effin weird,,

It's really not too alarming, I know a lot of foods and fluids can alter many states of waste, but is this indicative of anything?

I know as far as the low carb diets, and a few others, when weight loss is being achieved ketosis occurs and you can notice a change in smell of urine,,,,

I know this is a bit bizarre, but I just want to know that at least I'm not the only weird pee lady here,,,

6:57PM - NEW!

Hey everyone, I'm new to the community.,,,,

So basically, I have been overweight all my life, and I just recently moved to the sunny state of California.

I'm 20, and as of when I left the 5th of July I was 230 lbs...

I Don't have a scale unfortunatley, and amazingly enough, neither do any of the five girls I live with, But financially if things go well I'll be joining the gym anyway.

So who knows what I am. Going by fit I'd say I've been stagnant, which isn't bad, at least I didn't gain.

So after much deliberation I've decided that tomorrow I will be starting the Slim Fast Optima diet, consistent otherwise with a sensible diet.

And just to know, I'm not completely inactive, I live in the hlliest city in America, and I walk a lot, so even since moving here my legs feel a little stronger, but otherwise, that's where it ends.

SO! If anyone out there could share with me their success, and also if anyone has any great quick easy and cheap snack and meal ideas for a young broke college girl, I would very much appretiate your help!

So some stats I suppose?
HW: 230
CW:230ish
LW:160 (used Atkins, 160 lasted a day, was MISERABLE on it >:/ )
LTGW: 130
MTGW:150
STGW:180

I have a pretty lofty goal, seeing as I have never been a small girl, so I may not ever be able, or wanting to get to 130, we'll see when I get there though.

Also, my short term goal weight I want to reach by December 18th.
I go home then and well, lets just say a small portion of why i'm doing this is to spite a number of people, but only a teeny bit.
Mostly, I want to finaly achieve something health and mind wise that I have been trying to attain for a very long time.....

Wish me luck and thanks!

11:05PM - Slim Fast in the United Kingdom

Hi All, I'm new to this community.

I started Slim Fast many years ago, but got sick on it. ( I was only 12.)

I started again today, sorted out my plan online, stocked up and began the plan, but as I was doing some online reasearch I noticed that the Slim fast in the US is different to the one in the UK. the US plan has this "slim fast optima" stuff that curbs hunger for longer. I wanted to know if anyone has tried it and knows what its like compared to the other one.

Because if its better, us brits are getting a bloody bad deal!

I've begun a Slim Fast diet and wanted to join the community.

I'm currently 190, 5'1''
I'm not very active -but I'm sure I'll convince myself to get off my butt eventually!

I currently do a shake in the morning, a smartones frozen meal for lunch, and a slim fast bar for dinner.

I'll post here and there w/ my progress. Is this community active? I hope so...

In case you haven't already seen for yourself, the last post in this journal was a spam message. That user is a "member" of hundreds of communities and seems to have spammed them all with a similar post and link. Don't click on the link!

Is there any official way to complain or remove the message?

Hey all,

Just joined this community. I've been on the Slimfast diet for just over a month and have lost just over a stone, but lost most of it at the beginning of the diet. I'm finding it hard to lose weight now that my body has got used to the diet and wondered if anyone could give advice on good exercise to do with the diet, bearing in mind I'm a busy(ish) student and can't afford to go to the gym :$ Or any other advice if possible. I do a fair amount of walking (for me), about 8 miles a week.

Stats:
Height: 5'7"
Starting weight: 14 stone 4 (200lbs)
Current weight: 13 stone (182lbs)
Optimum weight: 11 stone 4 (158lbs)

Ta in advance,

Em

8:53AM - Slim Fast Optima and Hypoglycemia?

Hi all,
I'm new here in this community. I did do the slim fast diet before (Slim Fast shakes mostly) and lost 105 lbs in about 10 months. I recently went through some hard times in my life and gave up on watching my meals and ate junky foods, and I was craving odd foods.. like peanut butter- which will put weight on you fast!
I was just diagnosed in the last few weeks with Hypoglycemia. I read through the info on both slim fast Optima and the occasional meal bar, and I read through the criteria for Slim Fast Optima meals, where you are allowed snacks and whole foods are encouraged for snacking and your main meal. I'm going to give Slim Fast Optima a try (I need to lose about 18-22 lbs). I'm also going to try to keep up with the Hypoglycemic/diabetic requirements.
I know not many post here, but has anyone else with Hypoglycemia tried this?

So - I started the 48 Hour Hollywood Diet yesturday. Day one went surprisingly well. I expected to be famished but I was only midly hungry throughout the day.

I lost 4lbs the first day - I hope to lose another 4 today.

169/170 has been the hardest barrier to break through. I can't seem to lose anything else which more then irritates me - so hopefully this will just act as a push if nothing else.

I realize that while I am flushing out my system and my water weight - I am also not eating for two days and drinking nothing but juice so if I don't act properly (eat right and excersize) doing the 48hr diet is worthless because if I have a huge meal on day 3 - it's all for naught and the lbs "magically" appear.

Negatives on this : very tired. I am just dead today. No energy whatsoever. Slight headache (but this could just be me, I get chronic migraines). Peeing every 5 minutes.

My short term goal weight: 160
My long term goal weight: 140
My current weight: (today - 168 yesturday 171.5)
