Possible solution for the game not starting on Linux (try the steam flatpak)
just install flatpak

here you can find instruction for various distributions

http://flatpak.org/getting.html


add flatpak repo

sudo flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo

install steam flatpak

sudo flatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam

run steam flatpak like this

flatpak run com.valvesoftware.Steam/x86_64/stable

if you want to add a partition outside flatpak container you have to add the --filesystem command

like this

flatpak run --filesystem=/sdaXZ com.valvesoftware.Steam/x86_64/stable

replace sdaXZ with your desired folder.

Install Cossacks 3 and run, hopefully it will work.

This solution works. If you have issues with the config utility crashing just restart the game and the utility should work after that.

hi everyone, did someone had a problem with starting a game on macbook pro
the problem is "cossacks.exe" is missing

Flathub is not the last one solution. If you Arch femboy (i`m on arch btw) and you hate flatpaks with no reason (pacman and aur only enjoyer), you can force cossacks 3 to use proton in game settings, Its work for me
