Intro.
This is interview by SRV & Jeff Beck from "Guitare & Claviers".
In russian only.
Sorry.

Crossposted in my LJ.

I'm Tara, 25, and was born and raised on SRV. I just posted about him in my lj, so I thought I'd see if there were any communities about him, and here I am. :D Here's what I posted, I'm sure some of you will agree with me. ;)

I seriously think that Stevie Ray Vaughan made some of the absolute SEXIEST music ever. Hearing the opening to "Couldn't Stand the Weather" sets my loins aflame, for lack of a more poetic term. His guitar playing is like an auditory striptease, and his VOICE... it sounds like Marlboro Reds and Jack Daniels at midnight. Not that I smoke or drink a lot of Jack, but it sure sounds hot. Damn it makes me wish I could dance. I get a similar feeling from most older Clapton songs, but not nearly as intense.

I've often considered trying to learn guitar, but then I hear some Stevie Ray and think, "nah..." Cause I'll NEVER be able to play like that, so what's the point?

It makes me a wee bit proud to be American, and normally that's pretty hard to do, ha ha. Because for all our shortcomings, at least we're the home of the blues, no one can argue about that. Yeah, the Brits eventually latched onto it, (and thank god they did, or Eric Clapton might have turned out to be a plumber or something, not to mention we'd have no Zeppelin or any number of other legends, heh...) but blues (and therefore rock) was born in the USA. :)

Now if you'll excuse me, my ears are having passionate sex with a CD. ;)

hey, my names ed and im new.

i just thought some people would like to know how to get stevie rays unique sound, which i just figured out how to get. It works best with a 30 watt tube amp, and a distortion pedal with tone on it. here are the settings.

Pick up: neck (single coil)
distortion pedal: Fuzz=5 tone=7 leval=10
Amp: clean chanel, gain 5, volume 10, all eq on ten.

i think that is how he gets that sound with the neck pick up anyway, so please post feedback

some article i found online....

"STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN
There's a story that goes around: the first time Eric Clapton heard Stevie Ray he had to pull over onto the side of the road, 'cause he was in shock. That was the kind of air Stevie Ray brought to the guitar world. Nobody had heard a guy like this before. He also really hit a nerve with younger people, with that whole way he combined Hendrix with I-don't-know-what. When I hear John Mayer's solos and stuff, I can definitely hear how Stevie Ray Vaughan was an influence on him. There was a time when I wanted to copy every guitar tone of every Stevie Ray song there was. I never got there. He has a live thing called Live at the El Mocambo. It's like a little bar gig he and Double Trouble did. If you can get it on DVD, the guitar sound is awesome. That's a sought after sound, definitely!"

yea i definitelyyy recommend the dvd Live at El Mocambo. it was awesome

And there may be another DVD in 2006 released from Sony.

And the SRV ride and Remebrance Concert starts tomorrow people: check it here

And if you still don't have all of your fix of Stevie, there are CD trades going around.

I love Hendrix for so many reasons. He was so much more than just a blues guitarist—he played damn well any kind of guitar he wanted. In fact I'm not sure if he even played the guitar—he played music.

Blues Greats on SRV:

One of the greatest blues musicians who ever picked up a guitar.
—John Lee Hooker

Stevie had many ways of showing you that he had not only talent, but he also had a feeling for playing the blues. He was good with it, his execution and his hands. He seemed to be flawless, the way he moved with it.
—B.B. King

I remember being fascinated by the fact that he never, ever seemed to be lost in any way. I mean, it wasn't ever that he took a breather or paused to think where he was going to go next. It just flowed out of him.
—Eric Clapton

I use heavy strings, tune low, play hard and floor it. Floor it. That's technical talk.

I absolutely LOVE SRV. I have been listening to him since before I can rememeber. My dad used to be the lead singer in a blues band and his best friend is an amazing harmonica player. So I grew up listening to the blues.

I am 19 and a junior at The Master's College. My favorite hobbies include: listening to music (especially blues and classic rock), and torturing my roommate by listening to the blues and classic rock. I would love to be able to sing like 'Retha or Mahalia. SRV's music has the much coveted ability to bring me to tears. I once paid $20 for a t-shirt not worth $10 simply because it had SRV's face on the front. =)

Other than SRV, some of my all time favorite things are icons...so anyone who can combine the 2 would be greatly appreciated. ;-)

Have any of you ever noticed how Change It kinda sounds like China Girl? The part it sounds like is when Bowie is singin' "I'm feelin' Tragic like Marlon Brando." It makes sense as SRV played on this album but still....
