When my dad died, ( 3/25/01), the first song that played on the radio, on the way to his apt. to pick up my aunt...was "I hope you Dance"~ by Lee Ann Wolmack..


I hope you dance....how ironic...

I can't hear that song now without thinking of him...

im sorry if i'm doing proper story format, i've been depressed lately. my girlfriend a very excellent 4 months just broke up with  me wednesday ...>

I crave a little sunshine. It's been overcast today. When I was a teenager, each summer I used to arrange groups of potted plants on my mother's front porch to create vistas & hidden areas and furniture to arrange conversational groups. At the end I always put the chaise lounge. With hummingbirds zooming from feeder to feeder over my head, I'd lie in that chair, partially concealed by a big palm, and read tatty secondhand books. Eventually the warmth would get to me and I'd drift off to sleep.

I also crave porcupine meatballs, which my sister and I learned to make out of Betty Crocker's Children's Cookbook (the 1960s edition). But I'm going out tonight to a leaving party which will feature much classier cuisine, so must forbear. :)

FWIW, anyone who is a member of this community can now post a topic. I, at least, promise to respond!

Story night topics are the kind of things that, in conversation, bring up people's little personal stories, family legends, that kind of thing. So I had a few ideas. I'd would like to know what you'd like to story about most this week. And there's a spot to submit your own topic ideas as well, of course.

OK, kids, we've hit a snag. Is the LJ fixed word limit on comments too restrictive for you to tell a story from your life? The reason I set the members to only be able to make comments, the way I did, was to keep all replies to a story *under* the topic, in a threaded fashion. In this way, anyone who came along later could still add comments under the topic, keeping everything together.

However, we've just lost a potentially great story by someone being informed by LJ that it was over the limit and them panicking & not hitting the "back" button, so that the story vanished into the ether.

Postings rather than comments would allow for unlimited words (as long as you weren't posting via mIRC). So, a poll. ( Bear with me if this comes out weird; it's my first poll:Collapse )
