The Journal app makes it easy to capture your thoughts on everyday moments and special events.

Open Journal for me

Create a journal entry

  1. Go to the Journal app ๐Ÿ‘ Image
    on your Mac.

  2. Click ๐Ÿ‘ the Add button
    at the top of the screen.

    If you donโ€™t see ๐Ÿ‘ the Add button
    ,
    click Journal in the sidebar.

  3. Start writing or click ๐Ÿ‘ the Add Drawing button
    to add a drawing. See Add a drawing.

Create multiple journals

  1. Go to the Journal app ๐Ÿ‘ Image
    on your Mac.

  2. Click ๐Ÿ‘ the New Journal button
    in the sidebar above All Entries, name the new journal, then click Done.

  3. In the sidebar, you can reorder journals by dragging each one.

    To edit the journal name, color, or icon, Control-click the journal name, then choose Edit Journal.

Start a journal entry from another app

When youโ€™re doing something in another appโ€”such as listening to a song in the Music app or reading an article in the News appโ€”you can quickly capture your thoughts in a new journal entry.

Before you begin, turn on sharing for Journal. See Allow sharing from other apps.

  1. In the app youโ€™re using, click ๐Ÿ‘ the Share button
    or Share, then click Journal.

  2. Enter your thoughts, then click ๐Ÿ‘ the Done button
    or Save.

    The saved item is added to your main journal. Find it in the Journal app by choosing Journal in the sidebar.
