Keyboard shortcuts and gestures in Maps on Mac

In the Maps app 👁 Image
on your Mac, you can quickly accomplish many tasks using keyboard shortcuts and gestures. In app menus, keyboard shortcuts are represented by symbols.

Note: Keyboard shortcuts in apps may vary depending on the language and keyboard layout you’re using on your Mac. If the shortcuts below don’t work as you expect, look in the app menus in the menu bar to see the correct shortcuts. You can also use the Keyboard Viewer to see your current keyboard layout, known as an input source.

Show your current location

Command-L

Move up or down, left or right

Press the arrow keys.

Click and hold the mouse or trackpad, then drag the map.

On a trackpad, you can also drag using two fingers.

Rotate the map

Option-Left Arrow (to rotate counterclockwise) or Option-Right Arrow (to rotate clockwise).

Click and hold the compass while you drag left and right, or up and down.

Tilt the map

Click 3D near the top right of the map, then drag the slider.

Return to the north-facing orientation

Shift-Command-Up Arrow

Zoom in

Double-click.

Command-Plus Sign (+)

On a trackpad, spread two fingers apart.

Zoom out

Press the Option key while you double-click.

Command-Minus Sign (–)

On a trackpad, pinch two fingers closed.

Switch to explore view

Command-1

Switch to driving view

Command-2

Switch to transit view

Command-3

Switch to satellite view

Command-4

Show or hide the 3D map

Command-D

Show or hide Look Around

Command-K

Show or hide directions

Command-R

Drop a pin in the middle of the map

Shift-Command-D

Show or hide the sidebar
