Location asset requirements

Google provides translated versions of the Advertising Policies Help Center, though they're not meant to change the content of the policies. The English version is the official language used to enforce Google Ads policies. To view this article in a different language, use the language dropdown at the bottom of the page.

Location assets allow ads to include a business address, phone number, and other information like business hours and ratings for a specific business location. Location assets are subject to the standard Google Ads policies, and the requirements below.

Google Business Profile (GBP) is commonly used to create and provide data for location assets in your Google Ads account. The information about your business and images of your location are managed in your GBP account directly, not in Google Ads. GBP is only available in certain supported countries and regions.

Learn how to Fix a disapproved ad or appeal a policy decision. If you canโ€™t edit the online location to meet this requirement, upload a different location that complies with the policy. If you disagree with our decision or have fixed your asset, you can appeal the policy decision directly from your Google Ads account if available. Alternatively, you can dispute policy decisions using the Disapproved ads and policy questions form.

Related policies and common disapprovals

The following Google Ads policies are especially relevant to this ad format and are often associated with disapprovals. Learn about what happens if you violate our policies.

Editorial

The standard requirements for clarity, spelling, spacing, and use of capitalization and symbols apply to all ads. Refer to the Editorial policy for more information.

If your location assets are disapproved for Capitalization or Punctuation and symbols policies, youโ€™ll need to fix the issue in your Google Business Profile. Edit your business name to use standard title case without unnecessary symbols, then unlink and re-link your GBP profile in Google Ads to sync the changes.

Tobacco

Ads for tobacco, any products containing tobacco, or products that form a component of a tobacco product or facilitate or promote tobacco consumption are not allowed. Refer to the Tobacco policy for more information.

Recreational drugs

Ads for substances that alter mental state for the purpose of recreation or otherwise induce "highs", as well as products or services marketed as facilitating recreational drug use are not allowed. Refer to the Recreational drugs policy for more information.

Personalized advertising for Access to opportunities categories

These personalized advertising targeting restrictions are designed to help ensure equitable access to opportunities in Housing, Employment, and Consumer finance in the United States and Canada. The categories have limited personalization for certain demographics. Learn more about Restricted targeting in Personalized advertising.

Sensitive events

A "Sensitive Event" is an unforeseen event or development that creates significant risk to Google's ability to provide high quality, relevant information and ground truth, and reduce insensitive or exploitative content in prominent and monetized features. During a Sensitive Event, Google Ads may take a variety of actions to address these risks. Refer to the Sensitive events policy for more information.
